Therapy Space

Integrative Psychotherapy Practice, 143 Upper Rathmines Road, Rathmines, Dublin 6
Sometimes in life we can experience periods of inner conflict and confusion.  This may be due to traumatic past experiences or changes we may face in our lives presently. My practice offers a safe and confidential space in which to explore your issues with an experienced therapist. Counselling and Psychotherapy can help make sense of feelings, thoughts and behaviors which can cause inner conflict and confusion. This in turn can lead to a lesser quality of life. Making sense of these issue can help develop a greater sense of self awareness. I help bring about change by taking unconscious drives into a conscious space in which we can work together to implement meaningful change in your life. I am an Integrative Psychotherapist working from a Psychodynamic and Psychoanalytical framework. I also incorporate elements of Gestalt and Existential Psychotherapy in my work with clients.  I am a Pre-Accredited Member of the IACP ( Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy ) and I am an Associate Member of the IPAA ( Irish Psycho-Analytical Association ). I am fully insured to work within the guidelines and best practice of my associations and current government legislation. I hold a Certificate in Counselling Skills from NUI Maynooth and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy from Middlesex University.  I have several years of experience working with an array of clients. My background is in Nursing and Healthcare. A counselor that actually interacts with you instead of just letting you waffle on without resultsAlfie, Ireland, 13 12 17

I started seeing Ravind after a number of bad experiences with other counselors & their methods. It was my one last attempt at getting one to one help for my severe anxiety & panic attacks. I'm glad I did. Ravind has been amazing! A proper counselor that actually interacts with you instead of just letting you waffle on without getting any real results. Whilst it's a gradual ongoing process, I feel hundreds time better than I did when I first walked through the door. I can honestly say that without meeting Rav, I don't know how I'd have been able to get through the last year. I cannot recommend him enough. The clinic is great & I have recommended it to others that have all given positive feedback about their experiences.

Brief mental health check up €30 - €40
One service I provide as an option alongside the is a brief mental health checkup.  This is not a psychiatric or psychological assessment but a client led, self reflective process. This idea provides a space for the client to reflect on key areas specific to them such as ConcentrationEmotionsMoodEnergySleepWork/Life balanceRelationshipsTension/AnxietyBy reflecting on some of these topics with the respectful guidance of the therapist the client can arrive at an assessment on how they are doing and whether they may need assistance on any specific area(s). This “check up” would normally take place over the course of one or two sessions.

I had no idea what a weight could be lifted by just talking.Eimear, Dublin, 08 01 16

I had been considering talking to someone for a while about anxiety issues, but never felt the time was right. Really, I had been putting it off. I had been given Laura's name by a friend, and so one day, I just decided to brave it and go, and I am so glad that I did. I had no idea what a weight could be lifted by just talking things over to a skilled and non-judgemental listener. Laura was incredibly understanding and compassionate, and I felt I could really open up to her. I felt like she was working with me rather than for me, and I was able to come away with some fantastic coping strategies. She helped me to set realistic goals for myself, and I think the fact that everything was approached with practicality in mind has helped me hugely to move forward. I cannot thank Laura enough for the help she has given me.

It has made a huge difference to my life and general happinessOrla, Ireland, 17 04 18

After a few years of mild depression, I began taking prescribed medication. Having come off the tablets I was determined to find a way to help myself as did not want to be on medication long term. A friend had suggested counselling as a solution. I was sceptical but decided to give it a try. Having read Brian’s good reviews I emailed him to make an appointment. It was the best decision I have ever made as now understand what causes my depression and have learnt simple coping skills (over 6 sessions) that actually work. I’m just sorry I didn’t seek this treatment earlier. It has made a huge difference to my life and general happiness. Brian is a very experienced therapist and conducts his sessions in a very safe and professional environment.

For the first time ever I felt being a peerLuca, Ireland, 30 01 17

I was treated by Marcello from Aug/2013 to Jan/2016: 1.5 years. I was diagnosed Dysthymia and Cyclothymia with bipolar mood. Marcello treated me with cognitive behavioral therapy. I had never thought I would have been able to live ever in a society and I had never thought I would stop going to my therapist. Today I celebrate my first year from my last time at Marcello's: I can say loudly I am able to live on my own, to observe myself, to be aware of what's around me, of the traps of my minds. I can see I am free now, and it took time! It took 2.5 years, but I made it. Today I went back to Marcello's just to say Thank You and to tell him about my current life. For the first time ever I felt being a peer. Thank you, Marcello!

Young adult Psychotherapy
What is psychotherapy? Psychotherapy is the treatment of psychological, emotional, or behavior disorders through the communications between the client and a therapist. The goal of therapy is to establish a central relationship of trust in which the client or patient can feel free to express personal thoughts and emotions and thus gain insight into his condition and generally share in the healing power of words. (Britannica) Will it work for me? Many people feel a great deal of benefit from psychotherapy, some even after comparatively few meetings. Like any other treatment or life experience, psychotherapy may not be suitable for everyone. Each individual has to make up their own mind about whether therapy is helpful for them. Clinical experience shows that if you are motivated and set yourself realistic goals, psychotherapy is likely to be of benefit. How long will it take? The length of treatment will be determined by what you are offered following assessment. How often are the sessions? Most psychotherapy is once weekly, although sometimes client’s circumstances won’t allow for this, so an alternative arrangement will be made. How long does each session last? Individual psychotherapy sessions normally last fifty minutes. How much does it cost? A one on one session costs E85.00. What benefit should I feel afterwards? Research has shown that psychotherapy is effective in reducing symptoms, improving relationships and self esteem. However, as each person is an individual it is difficult to generalize at the beginning as to which benefits a person may feel. The exploration and the journey is often as important as the goal. Does it usually work? A great deal of research has been done which shows C.B.T to be effective. However, it only works as a catalyst with the person undergoing treatment. This means that in order for therapy to be effective, the "work" is not done to you - but by you and with you.Can I stop if I feel its not working? It is always possible to leav
CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive therapy seeks to help the client overcome difficulties by identifying and changing there thinking errors, behaviour, and emotions. This involves helping patients develop skills to change beliefs, identifying thinking errors and changing behaviours. Treatment is based the collaboration between the client and the therapist. Once those thoughts have been challenged, your feelings are easier to change. I believe that most people can overcome any emotional disability by ‘Working harder’. So be prepared for some homework, as C.B.T does require you the client to record your progress and challenge your behaviour in between sessions. But it’s not just about working harder; I will help you to ‘work clever’. The techniques of C.B.T will allow you to see your world from a new angle and this often brings relief and a new found ability to change behaviour that up until now, you may have felt would never change.
