About Dublin Sports Clinic

The Dublin Sports Clinic is a brand new centre with an innovative approach to training and therapy. We are a premium provider of Chartered physiotherapy, Sports Therapy and Training, based in Dublin City Centre. We have a dedicated team of talented coaches and therapists with over 50 years of combined experience in the industry. The DSC has been established specifically to help and motivate our clients to perform at their very best. Our highly qualified team all have a strong background in sport and experience of training to the highest level. We use our collective expertise to bring a seamless team approach to our therapy and programming. Fiona Oppermann -  at Dublin Sports Clinic

Fiona Oppermann

Biography:
Fiona has a BSc (Sports & Exercise Management) from University College Dublin and a Masters in Exercise Physiology from Trinity College. She also holds qualifications in Sports Therapy and Dry Needling. A former international Sprinter, Fiona represented Ireland over 200 and 400 meters at both junior and senior levels and won numerous national titles. Fiona has just finished her second year as Sports Therapist to the Dublin Senior Football Team. Her previous team work has included the Scottish Rugby Team, Glasgow Warriors, Irish Junior Athletics Team, Kilmacud Crokes Gaa and St Michaels College Rugby. She has been a speaker for a number of companies on the role of exercise on health & mental wellbeing in a corporate environment. She has a keen interest and experience in pre and post natal exercise, re-habilitation and sports performance. Along with her husband Paul, she also coaches a number of Irelands top track athletes.

Paul Oppermann

Biography:
One of the Clinics Directors, Paul is a strength and conditioning specialist and Sports Therapist. Paul holds a Masters degree in sports and exercise from University College Dublin as well as being a qualified physical therapist. He worked as the speed coach to this years all Ireland Winning Dublin Senior Football Team along with his role as their sports therapist for the past two seasons. Paul's sporting background is in track and field where he won numerous national titles during his career over 100, 200 and 400m. He has competed for Ireland in several major Championships, the highlight being in 2000 where he ran in the Olympic Games in Sydney. Alongside his work in the Clinic, Paul is now coach to some of Ireland’s top athletes including this year's national 400m champion.

Derek Ryan

Biography:
Derek is co-founder of DSC and lead physiotherapist. He qualified as a chartered physiotherapist from Salford University in 2006. He has interests in sports specific rehabilitation, movement dysfunction, pre and post surgery rehabilitation as well as being a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Derek has a keen interest in squash, a sport he played professionally for 12 years and reached number 7 in the World rankings. As well as being Irish Champion 9 times, Derek holds the world record for international caps, 213 times for Ireland. Derek is the current Physiotherapist for the Dublin Senior Camogie team and also Strength and Conditioning Specialist for the Dublin under 16 camogie team. He also works with a variety of athletes from sports such as golf, tennis, squash, triathlon and GAA.
