Welcome to Claire Kiernan Physical Therapy.  Treatments available in DUBLIN 12.  A physical therapy session in the clinic is individually tailored to each patient, with a holistic and patient  centered approach to healing. Physical Therapy is a hands-on and natural treatment which helps maintain and restore optimum movement and functional ability for your body. It is a primary care health profession and is established on health science principles. Conditions treated include back pain, neck and shoulder pain, whiplash, repetitive stress conditions, spinal conditions, muscle sprains and strains, ankle sprains, frozen shoulder, tendonitis, sciatica, tennis elbow and golfers elbow.  Each 1 hour treatment is well balanced and consists of a full patient history take, treatment, and re-education and homecare exercises. Treatment modalities include deep tissue and Swedish massage, muscle energy techniques, postural correction, joint mobilisations, Mulligan technique, fascia release and dry needling. Clients are provided with individual homecare exercise programmes to ensure return to full fitness is achieved and to prevent reoccurrence of injury.  As a member of An Comhdháil Na Múinteoirí Le Rincí Gaelacha, I have a keen interest in the world of Irish Dancing, and teach alongside my sister at the Pamela Kiernan Academy of Irish Dancing since 2005. I’m a firm believer in the art and craft of chiropractic care, and Dr. Alison Anderson’s methods did not disappoint. A recent trapped nerve in my lower back had literally crippled me, but trusting in my faith in chiropractic care, I was back on the road to recovery within about four 20-minute sessions over two weeks. I was soon able to walk my dogs and bend down without the fear of collapsing. Initial consultation free, thorough collaborative chat and felt very at ease throughout. Had deep tissue laser therapy for post fusion surgery. Everything explained in terms I understood and even insightful. Scheduled plan (package deal of 6 sessions was very affordable comparing on google Dublin) flexible appointments & app: reminders. Excellent outcome for me (decrease in pain, mobility loosening). Have other longstanding issues that would benefit from John's input.John kinda gives you insight into the psychology/physical/pain perception /science of injury/issues (also with links) just helps to understand my own history with back problems. I felt very comfortable, confident and motivated as the treatment went on. He genuinely was interested in my well-being, encouraging me. I never felt rushed. He's funny and caring at the same time. I most definitely will go back with a separate issue.

Dry Needling involves multiple advances of a filament needle into the muscle in the region of a “Trigger Point’. The aim of Dry Needling is to achieve a local twitch response to release muscle tension and pain. Dry needling is an effective treatment for chronic pain of neuropathic origin with very few side effects. This technique is unequaled in finding and eliminating neuromuscular dysfunction that leads to pain and functional deficits. The needle used is very thin and most subjects do not even feel it penetrate the skin. A healthy muscle feels very little discomfort with insertion of this needle. However if the muscle is sensitive and shortened or has active trigger points within it, the subject will feel a sensation like a muscle cramp -‘the twitch response’. The patient also may feel a reproduction of “their” pain which is a helpful diagnostic indicator for the practitioner attempting to diagnose the cause of the patients symptoms. Patients soon learn to recognize and even welcome this sensation as it results in deactivating the trigger point, reducing pain and restoring normal length function to the involved muscle.

Our family and extended family have been to Will for many years with back and joint problems and he has always given us such relief. I have been attending him lately with severe neck and shoulder pain and Will has done dry needling, which is sore at the time but the relief afterwards is just fantastic.
