Craniosacral therapy developed from the work of an American osteopath, Dr William Sutherland in the early 1900s. He discovered intrinsic movements of the bones in the head and his further research revealed different rhythms in the body. He inferred, from further observation, and later went on to demonstrate to his satisfaction, that these movements are inextricably linked with mental and emotional health and that restriction of these movements corresponds to a reduction of the natural capacity to self-heal. Craniosacral therapy has developed from clinical experience, which shows that health is something active and not just an absence of disease. Health is the expression of life, responsible for the organisation of the millions of things that are constantly happening in the body. 

Cranio-sacral therapy is practiced by Non- osteopaths who attend short courses and are taught to feel the Involutary mechanism of the body. I spent 4 years at full time college practising my palpation for 3-4 hrs a day it took me until the 4th year to begin to feel the movements I did over 1000 hours of clinical practice with mostly very poor results and it was only by prolonged detailed and exhaustive study of the anatomy and physiology of the human being that I started to see/feel a possible therapeutic consequence to my administrations. I have now been practicing Cranial Osteopathy for  14 yrs and I would consider myself competant. So these guys who learn it in 3 months they are all obviously gifted healers!

Yes..... I manipulate joints too but my treatments are NOT exclusivley this. It is recommended by National Institute of Clinical Excellence(N.I.C.E) to improve the condition of certain types of mechanical back pain, Osteopaths do not believe it is just a question of releasing trapped nerves. Often conditions that cause nerves to be congested would in fact be aggravated by heavy manipulation. The othe rquestion to answer is what makes nerves work?

This is a similar technique to fascial unwinding, but here, the focus is not exclusively on the fascia. We work into the neural musclar system at the horizon between fascia and muscle. Here essentially we are treating a pattern that is at a more acute phase rather than the more chronic Fascial unwinding stage.

James Olverson qualified with a BSc (Hons) degree in Sports Therapy From Edge Hill University and a BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy from Manchester Metropolitan University.  Since qualifying as a Sports Therapist James has worked in professional football before returning to University to study as a Physiotherapist. Following the completion of his Physiotherapy degree he worked to complete his core rotations within the NHS whilst continuing his work in football on a part time basis. James then progressed to a senior role within the outpatient setting of a private hospital, where he worked part time specialising in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, treating a range of different injuries/conditions including chronic, sporting and post surgical. Alongside this role he was able to continue his work in elite football, whilst taking on a new position within the Lawn Tennis Association providing physiotherapy cover at professional tennis events around the country.  James treats a range of musculoskeletal conditions drawing from his background in healthcare and also the sporting environment.  He continues to develop his skills attending various professional courses, and is currently studying for his Masters Degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine.  James is available for physiotherapy appointments on various days.

Clinical PilatesWith 10 years experience in Sports Rehabilitation, Sarah can provide safe and effective Pilates exercises to clients whatever their needs. Clinical Pilates allows for all poses to be modified to suit you. Everyone is different, joint movement can vary and muscle length will change from person to person so it is unreasonable to expect everyone to do the same exercise all the time. Sarah will show you the most appropriate version of the exercise for your needs. Sports RehabilitationSarah is a graduate Sports Rehabilitator and specialises in musculoskeletal conditions and uses this to her advantage when delivering Pilates classes.  Calm Your MindPilates not only helps improve your body, but also helps with mindfulness, relaxation and focus. It is important to take a break from daily life in order to focus on yourself and get clarity. Focusing on your breath during practice is key to staying in tune with your mind and body.  Sarah Hall is a Clinical Pilates Instructor and Sports Rehabilitator, she has been working in private practice for 10 years. Sarah graduated from the University of Salford in 2009 and since then has worked in private practice. During her career she has worked at numerous sporting events, has developed close links with a local Orthopeadic Consultant and won awards at the 2011 and 2012 Sefton Business Awards. During 2011 Sarah and some local doctors worked on a study about investigation into low back pain, she was asked to present this as a poster presentation in Denmark. A lot of Sarah's early years working was spent specialising and concentrating on low back pain, this is when she started to look more closely at the role of Pilates. Sarah started her training with the APPI (Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute) in 2013 and since then has offered clinical Pilates classes in Southport. 

This a gentle tretament to help restore the natural balance of our bodies to heal. It can be excellent with young children and babies and also effective following road traffic accident and whiplash.

A large number of patients we see in the practice have back or neck problems. This may also have associatted referred pain  such as sciatica or headaches. We will do a detailed assessment and treatment will be aimed at reducing pain, restoring movement and advicing you back care, posture awareness and on ergonomics. We aim to help you return to your sport and full fitness as quickly as possible. We wil treat the injury and also work with your to a graded  return to fitness. We can also refer you on to specialists if necessary eg for an ultra sound scan, or to specialist podiatrist etc. We can also offer you a customised exercise program which you can download from your computer.

It works directly on the central nervous system, helping every other system in the body to relax and self-regulate. During a session, the therapist uses his/her hands to gently hold and tune into the body of the client. Through this subtle touch, the practitioner can read the story of the client’s body, identify places where issues are held and follow the natural patterns of healing as prompted by the client’s own physiology. CST is commonly sought to treat back and neck pain, frozen shoulder, fatigue and depression, stress and anxiety, headaches and migraine, insomnia, acute and chronic pain, immune system disorders, digestive problems and IBS, dental trauma (jaw disorders) and problems before and after pregnancy.
