What is a Dental Check-up?

A dental check-up, or dental examination, is performed by a hygienist or dentist to check the teeth, gums and mouth of patients. They will check if the patient has cavities or oral cancer and also if they have any other oral disease during the check-up. An extensive examination consisting of fifteen points is performed on the patient’s first visit. Routine examinations are performed after the patient attends the clinic several times.   

Is a Dental Check-up painful?

A dental check-up is not painful. The dentist or hygienist detects dental and oral problems during the check-up. The patient who comes for the check-up could be experiencing pain before the check-up.   

How long does recovery after a Dental Check-up take?

A dental check-up does not involve any intervention. The dentist or hygienist will only detect the problem and arrange for further treatment to be performed, if necessary.  The need for recovery will arise only after the problem is treated.

How do I care for my teeth after a Dental Check-up?

Patients should follow all the oral hygiene instructions given to them by the hygienist or dentist after the dental check-up. If a dental or oral problem is detected they should attend the clinic for the treatment appointment correctly to prevent the problem from getting worse. They should get a dental check-up done twice a year for long term dental and oral health.

The web address is Oldmeldrum Dental Practice was established in 1992 and was extended by Mr A. I wanted to have new dentures made, but we had to extract a tooth first. I’m currently using temporary dentures until the site has healed enough for the real set to be fitted. It’ll be a six-month wait before we proceed. They did a good job extracting the tooth and I paid the price I saw online. Because the clinic’s in my hometown, it was convenient to get the work done here. It’s very tidy and run by an efficient team. We didn’t schedule a follow-up, but they told me they’d see me immediately if there were any problems. It was a standard dental experience. Everything went fine, I’ve already recommended them to my husband and daughter.

I saw Yehyah Kat at an emergency appointment. I had a toothache and a terrible gagging reflex so I was very nervous. He took the time to put me at my ease and removed the root and infection from my tooth. I have never in over 50 years been to the dentist and felt so relieved by the treatment and no gagging. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to other nervous patients. Both he and his dental nurse (sorry I cannot remember your name) were amazing.
