What is a Dental Check-up?

A dental check-up, or dental examination, is performed by a hygienist or dentist to check the teeth, gums and mouth of patients. They will check if the patient has cavities or oral cancer and also if they have any other oral disease during the check-up. An extensive examination consisting of fifteen points is performed on the patient’s first visit. Routine examinations are performed after the patient attends the clinic several times.   

Is a Dental Check-up painful?

A dental check-up is not painful. The dentist or hygienist detects dental and oral problems during the check-up. The patient who comes for the check-up could be experiencing pain before the check-up.   

How long does recovery after a Dental Check-up take?

A dental check-up does not involve any intervention. The dentist or hygienist will only detect the problem and arrange for further treatment to be performed, if necessary.  The need for recovery will arise only after the problem is treated.

How do I care for my teeth after a Dental Check-up?

Patients should follow all the oral hygiene instructions given to them by the hygienist or dentist after the dental check-up. If a dental or oral problem is detected they should attend the clinic for the treatment appointment correctly to prevent the problem from getting worse. They should get a dental check-up done twice a year for long term dental and oral health.

What is dental implant? Placing a bridge after teeth have been lost can prevent a chain reaction of problems that could affect your entire mouth. Teeth need each other for support, and when a tooth is lost, the biting forces change on the teeth next to the space, causing them to shift. When a tooth on the opposite arch no longer has anything to chew against, it begins to extrude out of the socket. You can eventually end up losing it too.As your bite changes, it gets harder and harder to chew your food and your jaw joint, the TMJ, may be damaged. It's also much harder to clean teeth that have shifted. Harmful plaque and tartar collect in these new hard-to-reach places, causing cavities and the permanent bone loss that comes with gum disease. When you have missing teeth, your overall health can be affected because of poor nutrition. The people who have missing teeth cannot chew very well and they cannot eat every kind of food. And also loss of teeth can change way of bite and this can lead to problems with the jaw joint which is called the temporomandibular joint. There can be changes in your speech when you have loosing teeth and your self-confidence can be affected.Dental implants are small titanium cylinders that are surgically inserted into the bone of the jaw to replace the roots of missing teeth. There is no need for a root canal treatment if the teeth, which will receive crowns, are healthy and strong. In order to make the crowns fit properly the parts of the teeth will be removed.At least three visits needed to get a bridge. The first visit is for the preparation for the teeth to be crowned and for making impressions. In the second visit the metal part of the crown is checked and in the third visit the bridge is placed.

I have extreme dental phobia due to terrible experiences as a child. I can no longer find an NHS dentist near me and cannot afford private care in the UK. I did my research, found a loan and chose Kotul Healthcare in Antalya, Turkey. I have had my first week of treatment, extractions, sinus lift, bone grafts and implants for all on 6. Kotul is a small, family-run clinic with exceptional staff. Monty who organised everything to perfection, is genuinely the loveliest guy. He totally respected and understood my fear. He answered all my questions at any time. Dentists Sinan and Hande are incredible, so skilled, kind and patient. Their assistant Buse made me feel safe and cared for. Even the transfers between hotel and clinic were perfect with kind drivers and lovely cars. I cannot speak highly enough of this clinic, they are amazing in every way.
