Braces
Orthodontics not only improves the alignment and aesthetic look of your teeth, but it can contribute to the healthy function and longevity of your teeth as well. By aligning your teeth in the proper position through orthodontic treatment, you reduce the amount of undue force and wear on your teeth. You can also have better access for cleaning your teeth and therefore reduce the chance of developing gum disease and bone loss. When you improve the overall look and health of your teeth, you have more self-confidence and self esteem. Orthodontics is an investment in the long-term well being of your teeth.

Dental Bridges
A bridge is a dental appliance that replaces one or more natural missing teeth, thereby "bridging" the space between two teeth. Fixed bridges are cemented into place next to the "abutment" teeth--the surrounding teeth on either side of the space, or "span." Unlike removable partial dentures, fixed bridges cannot be taken out of the mouth by the patient. A fixed bridge is a device that typically consists of three units - a pontic (a false tooth) fused between two crowns that are cemented onto the abutment teeth.

Dental Crowns
There is no need for a root canal treatment if the teeth, which will receive crowns, are healthy and strong. In order to make the crowns fit properly the parts of the teeth will be removed. At least three visits needed to get a bridge. The first visit is for the preparation for the teeth to be crowned and for making impressions. In the second visit the metal part of the crown is checked and in the third visit the bridge is placed.

Dental Implants
What is dental implant? Placing a bridge after teeth have been lost can prevent a chain reaction of problems that could affect your entire mouth. Teeth need each other for support, and when a tooth is lost, the biting forces change on the teeth next to the space, causing them to shift. When a tooth on the opposite arch no longer has anything to chew against, it begins to extrude out of the socket. You can eventually end up losing it too.As your bite changes, it gets harder and harder to chew your food and your jaw joint, the TMJ, may be damaged. It's also much harder to clean teeth that have shifted. Harmful plaque and tartar collect in these new hard-to-reach places, causing cavities and the permanent bone loss that comes with gum disease. When you have missing teeth, your overall health can be affected because of poor nutrition. The people who have missing teeth cannot chew very well and they cannot eat every kind of food. And also loss of teeth can change way of bite and this can lead to problems with the jaw joint which is called the temporomandibular joint. There can be changes in your speech when you have loosing teeth and your self-confidence can be affected.Dental implants are small titanium cylinders that are surgically inserted into the bone of the jaw to replace the roots of missing teeth. Artificial teeth are then attached to the implants, and can be used as part of a bridge.A partial denture is another way to solve the problem of missing teeth, but there are se

Extractions

Wisdom Tooth Extraction
The teeth, which have been damaged by decay or fracture, will be repaired and restored with a filling, crown or other treatment by the dentist. But sometimes if the damage is too extensive, the teeth cannot be repaired. Then it is necessary to do the extraction. The other reasons for extraction: The extra teeth that block other teeth from coming in. People undergoing orthodontic work may need teeth extracted to create room for the teeth that are being moved into place. The people, who are having radiation to the head and neck, may need to have teeth in the field of radiation extracted. The people who are receiving chemotherapy may need to have the teeth extracted. Because chemotherapy weakens the immune system and the risk of infection increases. So these teeth may need to be extracted. The people receiving an organ transplant may need some teeth extracted. Because when immunosuppressive medications are given, there is a risk of becoming sources of infection for the teeth after the transplant. Impacted teeth, especially third molars, commonly come during the late teen years or early twenties. These teeth are often extracted either before or after they come in. These teeth get stuck in the jaw and they need to be extracted if they are decayed or cause pain.

Fillings
There are several methods to find out if you have tooth decay or not. Observation is one of these methods. The dentists use an explorer that is a metal instrument with a sharp tip to find out the possible decay. X-rays are important to find out the tooth decay that cannot be seen on the surface. The filling is a necessity not only for a decay but also for cracked, broken or worn teeth because of habits like nail-biting, tooth grinding and using the teeth to open things can be a necessity for the fillings. The sensitivity can be exist after having a filling. The tooth may be sensitive to pressure, air, sweet foods or temperature. Like the other types of the fillings the composite fillings can cause sensitivity. Mostly the sensitivity subsides over one or two weeks. Try to avoid anything that causes the sensitivity. If the sebsitivity does no decrease in a period of two weeks and if you have an extreme sensitivity, you should contact your dentist. If your dentist knows you have sensitivity, he or she will use anyother material and make modifications to decrease the sentivity when you need another filling. But it is unknown that if your tooth will react to a particular material. It is important to describe precisely the sensitivity that you have on your teeth so that the dentist can decide what to do next. It is possible to take out the filling and put in a new one. Also the dentist can add a base, liner or desensitizing agent on the tooth. But if the filling is deep, the roo

Gum Surgery
Scaling and root planning are the most common and conservative form of treatment for periodontal (gum) disease. In the procedure of scaling the calculus, which is usually called as tartar and plaque, are removed. Plaque is a sticky substance and it is full of bacteria. The calculus is formed when the plaque hardens in time. The calculus and the plaque attach to the tooth surfaces, especially below the gum line along the root surface. And the plaque is more likely to stick to rough surface so the root surfaces need to be smoothed down. The process of root planning is for smoothing down the root surface. In this procedure all the calculus are removed and the root-surface irregularities are smoothed. Ultrasonic scalers and hand instruments are used in the procedure of scaling and root planning. Ultrasonic instruments are electric or air-powered devices. They have two components. The first one is a relatively dull metal tip. It vibrates at a very high frequency and knocks plaque and calculus off the tooth. The second one is a water irrigation system that cools the tip and helps to flush out the debris from the teeth. The hand instruments have cutting edges and they are pressed against the teeth. The hand instruments are called as scalers and curettes. They are not powered instruments. There are various shapes and sizes of them. They are used for different teeth and also for different surfaces of the same tooth.

Root canals
The endodontics concerns with the diseases of tooth’s pulp. The pulp is located in the center of the tooth and in the root canals within each tooth root. The pulp, which consists of connective tissue, nerves and blood vessels, nourishes the tooth when the tooth erupts. The pulp can be removed safely from the pulp chamber and root canals, after the tooth becomes mature. The endodontic treatment is the removing of the pulp that is also known as the root canal treatment or root canal therapy. The infection formed in the pulp may cause an abscess by affecting the bone around the tooth. The aim of the root canal treatment is to save the tooth by removing the infected or damaged pulp, treating any infection and filling the empty canals with a filling material. The tooth may have to be extracted if root canal treatment is not done.It is better to keep natural teeth. A missing tooth can make the neighboring teeth to drift out of line. Keeping natural teeth helps you to avoid more expensive and extensive treatments like implants or bridges. If a root canal treatment is not done to an injured and infected tooth, it will be a focal infection for body. It does not mean that after having an endodontic treatment on a tooth, the tooth will not be pulled out in a few years. Usually the root canal treatment is done because of large cavity.
