An inlay is an indirect restoration (filling) consisting of a solid substance (as gold or porcelain) fitted to a cavity in a tooth and cemented into place. To make this restoration, an impression of the prepared cavity is taken using an elastic material. It is sent to the dental technician who will make the inlay. Permanent restorations in combination with partial, removable dentures are made in cases when you still have some of your teeth left, but their number is insufficient to properly support a permanent bridge and the use of implants are also not feasible.
