What are Dental Bridges?

Dental bridges, also called tooth bridges, are placed when patients have one or more teeth missing or have gaps between their teeth. It usually takes two visits to get dental bridges fitted and the procedure takes about two hours.

What different types of dental bridges are there?

Traditional dental bridges consist of two crowns placed on healthy teeth on either side of the missing teeth, or gap, and the bridge then covers the gap supported by the two crowns. Cantilever bridges are placed when there are healthy teeth only on one side of the bridge. Maryland bridges are bonded to the backs of teeth on either side of the bridge and are not connected to crowns. Implant retained bridges are bridges that are placed over implants fixed in the gums. These bridges are placed when several implants are surgically inserted.

Is fitting dental bridges painful?

The dentist will numb the area where the dental bridge is to be placed before performing the procedure. Patients will not feel any pain during the procedure.

When can I travel by air after fitting dental bridges?

Patients should be able to fly two days after fitting their dental bridge. If they feel any pain or sensitivity after the procedure, they should consult their dentist for medications or postpone their journey till the pain or sensitivity has abated.

How long does recovery after fitting dental bridges take?

If patients feel pain or sensitivity after a dental bridge is fitted, they should recover within a week.

How do I care for my teeth after fitting dental bridges?

Patients should follow a normal dental hygiene routine. Patients should brush and floss their teeth and maintain proper hygiene. Patients should avoid eating or drinking anything that is too hot, cold or too hard, for at least a week after the procedure.

What are the alternatives to fitting dental bridges?

Some alternatives to dental bridges are partial dentures or removable dentures.

There was absolutely no pressure to proceed with any particular workEdna, UK, 20 09 21

Due to diabetes, I found I had extensive and worsening dental problems. That was bad enough, but the price quoted by my dentist in London was even more depressing! So, I began researching the possibility of having the work done abroad. Smart Dental, caught my eye, and I emailed for an estimate with my x-rays, scans, &c. I received an immediate and full response to all my questions, with a much more digestible price tag attached. As soon as COVID-19 let me, I flew to Spain for a consultation at their smart modern surgery. There was a warm and friendly atmosphere, and Diana the receptionist, and Dr Laura and Dr Felix (who did the actual dental work) all speak good English. Everybody went to great lengths to explain my options, and the costs involved. There was absolutely no pressure to proceed with any particular work. I decided to go ahead with my chosen schedule of work, involving extensive implants, and although Smart Dental were very busy, they opened specially on a Sunday for my benefit for the treatment. Apart from the initial injection, I had no pain at all, either during or after the procedure. Not even when paying the bill! It was well under half what I was facing in London. My new teeth look great, even though they are only the temporary ones. I can’t wait to complete the final fitting of my permanent set in November. I’m already smiling!

Dental Bridges
A bridge can replace the loss of one or more teeth. The bridge gets attached to remaining teeth and result in a stable construction that will feel as your own teeth. If it is necessary we prepare the borders of the teeth so that the bridge construction has an optimal base. We take an impression and sent it together with you exact colour to the technician. When the bridge is finished, more or less after 2 weeks we will cement it and the result will be a nice and natural smile.

Here at Nordic Dental Centre we can offer you a dental care of highest quality, latest technology in a modern and relaxed atmosphere. We follow a strict protocol and do all surgery in an operation theatre with full sterility. We give a life-long guarantee on our job but we can not give full guaranties for implants in the upper jaw to smokers. (Although success rate is over 80%). In most cases we use ASTRA AQUA implant system. (Nobel Biocare or ITC Strauman systems occasionally)We prefer screwed constructions and do so if adequate. On one implant you can put one tooth/crown. On two implants you can do a bridge with four teeth. A whole lower jaw you can put on four teeth. The time for the whole treatment varies depending on the healing (very individual) which in turn depends on bone quality etc.. Approximately 6-9 weeks from operation date. Please observe that this is on general terms. Before any treatment we always do a thorough and accurate examination and give you a fixed price – no other costs will be added. You are welcome to visit the clinic for an exact therapy- and cost estimation.

If I need any more work done while here I will most definitely use this clinic againMargaret, UK, 28 11 22

I have used the same dentist in UK for 33 years and was a bit apprehensive at first using this clinic but was put at ease immediately by the dentist and his assistant. I had lost a large filling and they renewed it with no pain at all. I originally chose this clinic as it was local to me in Riviera Del Sol. If I need any more work done while here I will most definitely use Riviera British Dental Clinic again.

Dental Bridges from 500 €
A dental bridge is a false tooth, known as a pontic, which is fused between two porcelain crowns to fill in the area left by a missing tooth. The two crowns holding it in place that are attached onto your teeth on each side of the false tooth. This is known as a fixed bridge. This procedure is used to replace one or more missing teeth. Fixed bridges cannot be taken out of your mouth as you might do with removable partial dentures. If you a space from a missing tooth, a bridge will be custom made to fill in the space with a false tooth. The false tooth is attached by the bridge to the two other teeth around the space - bridging them together.

Dental Crowns from 280 €
As we age, many of us find ourselves with teeth that are no longer structurally sound. Root canals, lost fillings, decay below a filling, chipping and cracking of the enamel are all things that can lead to large scale defects in a tooths surface. When the entire surface of the tooth is a problem, but the root system is intact, a crown might be just what the dentist orders. Grinding your teeth, an improper bite, age, fillings and tooth decay can all be contributing factors in the wearing down, cracking or breakage of your teeth. Dental crowns cover the entire visible surface of your affected tooth and add strength, durability and tooth stability.
