Why visit Manila?

Why is Manila a popular tourist destination?

Manila, the capital of the Philippines, has a vast array of activities for tourists. The Rizal Park, named after Jose Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines, is studded with historical monuments.  Manila also has some well-known and historically significant churches and the world’s oldest Chinatown. Manila is a shopper's and bargain hunter's paradise with large malls that feel like mini-cities. Manila offers a wide range of accommodation options for tourists, from super luxury hotels to budget accommodation or self-catering apartments.

Why is Manila a popular international medical tourism destination?

Hospitals and clinics in Manila have world class facilities and offer high quality medical and dental treatments at affordable rates. The staff in the hospitals usually speak English. The hospitals and clinics that offer medical tourism are accredited by the Philippines Department of Health and internationally accredited by the JCI and ISO. They offer low cost healthcare packages combining treatment with a holiday for overseas patients.

How does a medical tourist get to Manila from the airport?

Manila is served by the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. There are taxis and airport buses that take tourists to the city. Tourists who want to travel in the traditional Filipino vehicle called Jeepney can find them waiting for customers outside the airport.

What are the visa requirements for medical tourists to the Philippines?

There are no specific medical tourism visas required for patients. Patients with valid passports and return tickets from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Kuwait and a few other countries do not require a Visa for staying in the Philippines for up to 21 days. Patients can get details of visa requirements by visiting the website: www.immigration.gov.ph

This was the most affordable dentist I could find for crowns (the website prices are accurate!). Their rates were really good and the dentist was lovely, too! I’m satisfied with the work they did and returned for one follow-up. Everything was fine. I’d highly recommend them.

Bel-Air Dental Care

Unit 201 2nd Level (WIP) Oppen Building, 349 Sen Gil Puyat Avenue, Makati City, 1200
Rating from 11 Reviews I saved a lot of money, got great treatment and made two new good friendsSteve, Mound, 12 Feb 18

I needed a crown. The quality of the clinic, the equipment in it and all staff were as good as any dentist I have been to in the USA. The clinic is near the airport and all the major (USA chain) hotels. The prices were so low that a deep cleaning, a crown and a couple of fillings would probably still be cheaper than in the USA, even after paying for the travel and accommodation. I asked about some prices and discovered that you could get a FULL set of implants for little more than the cost of good dentures in the USA. I applied for quotes to many clinics. By a significant margin, Bel-Air handled the inquiry in the most timely and professional way. They communicated with me continually right up to my departure from the USA and as soon as I arrived in Manila. Time difference was never an issue, my contact carried on communication from home. (This was one of the only inquiries where all my communication was directly with the dentist who was going to oversee my treatment.) Manila was just a layover for me and they bent over backwards to accommodate my tight timetable. They even communicated during my long flight directly with a third party who was meeting me at the airport. My first impression as I walked into the clinic was a pleasant surprise - although not opulent, like some USA clinics, it was as clean and bright as any in the USA. The reception was fully briefed and greeted me by name as I walked in the door. All personnel spoke exceptionally good English. The clinic was fully equipped (as good as any USA clinic), including panoramic X-ray equipment. Although they do not make the permanent crowns on site, they use a lab nearby and they had made special arrangements with that lab to fit in with my tight schedule. It was December 27th and I was the last patient of the day. Before I left they offered me and my companion a glass of wine and the two remaining dentists joined in a (single) glass. I am 68 years old and have had dental treatment in both the UK and the USA.This was, by far, the best visit to a dentist that I have had in my life. I saved a lot of money, got great treatment and made two new good friends.

Winning Smiles Dental Clinic

Suite 607 608 Medical Towers Makati V.A.Rufino Street, Legaspi Village, Makati City, 1229
Rating from 21 Reviews The end result was fantastic! My teeth are white with the right size and look naturalJerome, Philippines, 24 Oct 16

I had previous veneers done by another dentist but had issues of repeated veneer coming off easily in a matter of days. I also noticed my gums at the bottom teeth were starting to get inflammed and bled when I brush my teeth. My teeth before were yellow and worn, so veener was my option to get whiter and younger loooking smile. This has prompted me to look online to look for a reputable cosmetic dentist to get a second opinion about my veneer problems. I got a response from Dr. Isip when I inquired thru whatclinic.com I immediately set my appointment with Dr. Isip. I was surprised to know how serious my dental hygiene was when she checked my veneers. She was concerned how my veneers were bonded to each other and the margins of veeners and original teeth were clearly visible. Thats why plaque accumulated easily, irritating my gums as I was unable to floss and clean my teeth. I was convinced that I had to redo my veneers. I checked with her previous veneers works with beautiful and natural looking outcomes. The cost of the treatment was twice than my previous dentist but I know I was at the right hands from a well experienced cosmetic dentist. I decided to get Emaxx veneers on the upper teeth only. She left the lower teeth with the old veneer but she prepped the teeth so I could floss and brush my teeth thoroughly. I went ahead to go through the treatment on that same day. She removed all my old veeners with little effort and prepped my teeth. My teeth were so sensitive that she had to give me several shots of local anesthesia. Then she made on chair temporary veneer on my upper teeth, which I never had with my previous dentist. It looked decent and get through the days without the final veneers. After a week, I went back to get the final veneer placed but it was not yet ready. I decided to get the lower done but with composite veneers which is a fraction cheaper alternative than Emaxx veneers. The bottom teeth looked great after it was done. After several days, the final Emaxx veneers were placed on my upper teeth. She made sure I was comfortable throughout the process by injecting local anesthesia. Placing each veneer was laborious as she made sure each tooth can be flossed easily. Bite check was also done so I wont accidently bite hard onto my veneers. The end result was fantastic! My teeth were white with the right size and natural looking. The difference between the old and the new veneers is night and day and I could tell this new veeners will last. It was a lesson learned for me to choose a reputable dentist despite the seemingly exhorbitant price for the treatment. Winning smiles clinic has a good and clean facility. They have well experienced dentists to achieve your desired smiles with ensured quality and peace of mind.

Rating from 2 Reviews She is very thorough in her examination and had explained to me in detail about my treatment planJules, SYdney, 11 Mar 18

I visited the Dio Implant Surgery Centre for a scale and clean on my holiday to the Philippines last month. I was attended to by Dr. Mendoza. The clinic was very clean and the staff was very polite. Mr. Mendoza was very thorough in her examination and had explained to me in detail about my treatment plan and what were the possible treatments I could have done in the short time I was there. I returned to the surgery and got a few fillings. This time I saw a male doctor who was very patient with answering all my questions. I would highly recommend this clinic and will definitely return when I go back.

iDENT Dental Center

557 J.P. Rizal corner Sta. Lucia St., Brgy. Olympia, Makati City, 1207
Rating from 11 Reviews Advised against immediate implantKarim, United Arab Emirates, 18 Sep 15

I visited the Ident clinic in September this year and was treated to an implant by Dr. Ricki. I found him very sincere and professional, hence he advised against the immediate implant (where others would not mind carrying out the immediate procedure ignoring the fact that the bones are fragile and need filling). The staff are very friendly and well trained. The prices are relatively affordable compared to the rates we have in Dubai (almost double!). Excellent and professional The clinic has the latest in Technology and Dr. Ricki and his wife (also a dentist) are regular members of renown association in Europe and USA. Thank you Dr and your team and keep up the excellent work!
