What are Dental Bridges?

Dental bridges, also called tooth bridges, are placed when patients have one or more teeth missing or have gaps between their teeth. It usually takes two visits to get dental bridges fitted and the procedure takes about two hours.

What different types of dental bridges are there?

Traditional dental bridges consist of two crowns placed on healthy teeth on either side of the missing teeth, or gap, and the bridge then covers the gap supported by the two crowns. Cantilever bridges are placed when there are healthy teeth only on one side of the bridge. Maryland bridges are bonded to the backs of teeth on either side of the bridge and are not connected to crowns. Implant retained bridges are bridges that are placed over implants fixed in the gums. These bridges are placed when several implants are surgically inserted.

Is fitting dental bridges painful?

The dentist will numb the area where the dental bridge is to be placed before performing the procedure. Patients will not feel any pain during the procedure.

When can I travel by air after fitting dental bridges?

Patients should be able to fly two days after fitting their dental bridge. If they feel any pain or sensitivity after the procedure, they should consult their dentist for medications or postpone their journey till the pain or sensitivity has abated.

How long does recovery after fitting dental bridges take?

If patients feel pain or sensitivity after a dental bridge is fitted, they should recover within a week.

How do I care for my teeth after fitting dental bridges?

Patients should follow a normal dental hygiene routine. Patients should brush and floss their teeth and maintain proper hygiene. Patients should avoid eating or drinking anything that is too hot, cold or too hard, for at least a week after the procedure.

What are the alternatives to fitting dental bridges?

Some alternatives to dental bridges are partial dentures or removable dentures.

Why visit Manila?

Why is Manila a popular tourist destination?

Manila, the capital of the Philippines, has a vast array of activities for tourists. The Rizal Park, named after Jose Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines, is studded with historical monuments.  Manila also has some well-known and historically significant churches and the world’s oldest Chinatown. Manila is a shopper's and bargain hunter's paradise with large malls that feel like mini-cities. Manila offers a wide range of accommodation options for tourists, from super luxury hotels to budget accommodation or self-catering apartments.

Why is Manila a popular international medical tourism destination?

Hospitals and clinics in Manila have world class facilities and offer high quality medical and dental treatments at affordable rates. The staff in the hospitals usually speak English. The hospitals and clinics that offer medical tourism are accredited by the Philippines Department of Health and internationally accredited by the JCI and ISO. They offer low cost healthcare packages combining treatment with a holiday for overseas patients.

How does a medical tourist get to Manila from the airport?

Manila is served by the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. There are taxis and airport buses that take tourists to the city. Tourists who want to travel in the traditional Filipino vehicle called Jeepney can find them waiting for customers outside the airport.

What are the visa requirements for medical tourists to the Philippines?

There are no specific medical tourism visas required for patients. Patients with valid passports and return tickets from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Kuwait and a few other countries do not require a Visa for staying in the Philippines for up to 21 days. Patients can get details of visa requirements by visiting the website: www.immigration.gov.ph

Very accommodating and very down to earth couple. They’ll always make sure you’ll understand what the procedure is going to be like, what it will feel like and even what it will taste like. They will always make sure you’re ok and comfortable. They even offer me to give a ride home a couple of times. You’ll get more of what you paid for sure! I have a very complicated case but they manage to exceed my expectations. I will highly recommend Dr. Mark Mendoza and Dra.Ionne Mendoza to everyone I know.

I was amazed to find a clean, modern surgery with all the latest equipment and friendly

by steve, Australia, 12 Dec 2015
I am a sixty-one-year-old male resident of the sunshine coast, who after visiting a local dentist firm, was shocked to receive a quote for over 10k for two bridges and a crown. My teeth are relatively all intact for my age. I felt the prices were over the top, especially after some research. As I was paying an IT freelancer in the Philippines for my outsource business work, I requested my quotes and X-rays be examined, and for the freelancer to research the best dental clinic with a history of Australian patients. This was a family clinic who gave me a price indication by email, promptly and professionally. Really, I used the IT personal assistant for his local knowledge to research them. It was three months that I worked an overseas Japan trip in via the Philippines that made the diversion $200 affordable. I was amazed to find a clean, modern surgery with all the latest equipment and friendly, courteous staff; all who seem to have specific tasks. They seemed to be like a team. All in all, the services and work are good and I especially asked questions about where their medicines and dental caps and glues were sourced from. Japanese, of course, and American, which built my confidence even more. Some monies were paid back to me in cash after finding not all the treatment in Australia was totally necessary. All in all, I was very well looked after, and was informed well prior to each procedure with little or no wait time. Can highly recommend Family Dental Practice, and would even bring my son and wife to have dental plus resort holidays in the future.
