Dr. Mehmet is an amazing surgeon, along with his wonderful team! My case was very complicated because I had a previous gastric bypass (from a different surgeon) that left my stomach almost fully intact. Because of that, I was unsuccessful in losing weight. Dr. Mehmet performed a revision surgery for me. Even only 1 week out from surgery, I already notice a large difference in how much I can consume. Thank you Global Medical Care.

I had my gastric sleeve on 6.10.22. All I can say is that my experience was amazing. The team was great, patient-centred, and caring throughout my stay in the hospital. The place was very clean. The cleaners and dinner ladies were very nice too and of course the nurses. And I got to meet the great Dr and Global Medical Care team, they are so amazing. Our laparoscopic gastric sleeve procedures are performed under general anesthetics.

- During surgery, your surgeons will make between 2 and 5 small incisions in your abdomen (which minimizes scars), use laparoscopic instruments (tri-staple tech- titanium sewing), and remove about 80% of your stomach.

- This leaves a banana-shaped “sleeve” that connects the esophagus to the small intestines.

- Our doctors are mandated to use the latest Tri-Staple™ technology for the removal of the stomach (70-80%).

- In this technology, the cuts on the stomach and sutures are done at the same time with titanium sewing technology (with two-sided 3-line stitches).

Surgeon Op. Dr. Mehmet Uctum has 12 years of experience in various methods of obesity surgeries. He graduated from Ege University in 2004 with the title of Medical Doctor, he began to work for achieving the title of Surgeon Doctor. In 2005, he started his specialty training in General Surgery at Istanbul Vakıf Gureba Training and Research Hospital. After an intensive study period of 5 years, he completed his thesis titled “Causes, Treatments, and Interventions in Incisional Hernias,” published his first medical article, and managed to get the title of General Surgery Specialist in 2010. Immediately after being a specialist, he completed his compulsory service between 2011 and 2012. After his compulsory service where he made 1283 operations, he worked as a General Surgery Specialist and a chief physician between 2012 and 2013 at Manisa Private Vefa Hospital. Between 2013 and 2016, he worked in advanced laparoscopic surgery, bariatric surgery, and oncological surgery clinic at Eskişehir Acıbadem Hospital which is one of the biggest hospital groups in Turkey. He carried out studies to improve his professional skills and develop his specialty in bariatric surgeries. He gained considerable experience from thousands of surgical operations and indications and became the head of the obesity unit of İzmir Private Karataş Hospital in 2016.  Since 2019 Mr. Mehmet is the head bariatric surgeon of Global Medical Care. Till now he completed more than 4000 bariatric operations with success. During this time in the surgeries, he made he achieve 0% leakage, 100% success, and +40kg weight loss for every single patient.
