The Therapy Centre - Dawson Street - Psychotherapy Clinic in Ireland

The Therapy Centre - Dawson Street

42 Dawson Street, Dublin City Centre, Dublin, D02 NX79
Degree - Psychotherapy and Counselling B.A.(Hons) - Psychotherapy and Counselling Member of APCP (Association of Psychotherapists and Counsellors in Ireland About Michael Michael has completed 4 years of psychotherapy studies, through which he has undergone numerous hours of personal therapy as part of the training to understand how it is to be a client, and has extensive experience working with different individuals and presentations. Outside of psychotherapy, Michael is an accomplished swimming teacher with 7 years of experience and has a real passion for helping those in need. Michaels Approach I base my work on creating a strong therapeutic relationship and through applying certain skills individuals will learn to get in touch with their real selves, and develop more understanding of their thoughts, feelings, behaviors, motives, and purposes with the intention to become in essence their own therapist. Message to clients The challenges that bring us to therapy can sometimes overwhelm us, leading us to feel lost or as if we're fighting an uphill battle. Seeking therapy can often be a worthwhile step in learning to manage these issues, gaining a greater sense of control over one's self and life, experiencing more overall balance, and developing a more positive outlook. The journey within can often be very frightening but encountered within a safe space and with a little courage, it can be of true value.

Dermot Heslin Psychotherapy - Dermot

Dermot Heslin Psychotherapy

42 Dawson St, Dublin 2
My name is Dermot Heslin, and I am an accredited (IAHIP, ICP) person-centred psychotherapist. This means that I combine learning from different schools of psychotherapy to best meet the needs of each person. I work with a broad range of issues such as depression, anxiety, grief, relationship issues, childhood trauma, self-esteem and personal-development. My career began in software development, and I moved from there into the not-for-profit sector, where I supported people in developing leadership skills through volunteering. I became interested in counselling and psychotherapy, as I saw people's ability to grow during periods of intense challenge, provided they had the right supports. As well as my core training (Masters in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy), I have trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, which is a body-based approach to working with trauma. I see clients in-person in my clinic in Dawson St, and also online. I understand that beginning therapy can be a daunting prospect, and I am happy to discuss any concerns by phone prior to making an appointment.

It’s a big decision to come to counselling or psychotherapy . For some it is something they have beenconsidering for some time, while for others it’s an immediate decision inresponse to something that has come up suddenly in their life. Either way it canbe a stressful and anxious time. Knowing what to expect can make it alittle easier. Our first meeting will be an exploratory session. Thiswill allow you  to see what counselling is about and decide if it will bebeneficial for you to continue.  I will take some personal details anddiscuss confidentiality in the counselling relationship. We will move on tolook at your life and examine what has brought you to counselling at thistime.  We will also look at what you want to achieve from therapy. At the end of this session it is your decision whetherto proceed further. If  you decide yes  I would normally contract for 4 - 6 sessions after which we would review where we are. If I think your needs will be best met elsewhere Iwill offer a referral.  Therapy may involve either short term counselling orlonger term psychotherapy. This decision rests with you and what you want toachieve from the counselling process.  While I am qualified in the use of psychodynamic, humanistic and cognitive behavioral approaches I mainly work humanistically, using elements of the other models where appropriate.
