I could see the improvement in my own behaviour after a few sessionsAlbert, Ireland, 24 04 19

Aidan Lakes provided an excellent service from start to end. I was referred to Aidan through my work EAP program. I felt really nervous at the beginning since I was visiting a different provider for a long time before I met him. My life was a complete mess. The issues I had were: Separation, Court Hearing, Child Custody plus a second break up on the top of all. I arrived at Aidan clinic a few days after "The worst day of my life", Aidan was very easy to chat to and supported me until I was able to stand on my feet again. I could see the improvement in my own behaviour after a few sessions. I would recomend his services.

Individual Psychotherapy €90 - €120
Personal therapy is a way in which an individual can address any issue in their lives that is causing them distress. Each person, in their own unique way, has the potential to overcome their present difficulties. Working regularly with a trained therapist in a safe and non judgmental environment can provide a setting in which someone  can engage constructively with their struggle and discover a more creative way of living with less emotional baggage to hold them back.
CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy €70 - €90
What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy? Cognitive Behavioural Therapy has been the most widely researched therapy. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that involves addressing a person’s problematic thinking styles and behaviors. It is based on the idea that how we think (cognition), how we feel (emotion), and how we act (behaviour) all interact together. Specifically, our thoughts determine our feelings and our behavior. Therefore, negative thoughts can cause us distress and result in problems. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy helps people to develop alternative viewpoints in order to tackle their problems. Developing alternative viewpoints is the cornerstone of the CBT principle that there is always more than one way of seeing things and therefore a person chooses their own viewpoint. This type of therapy has been found to be helpful in: AnxietyPanic attackDepressionAcrophobia and other phobiasSocial phobiasBulimiaObsessive compulsive disorderPost traumatic stress disorderStressRelationship problems When we change the way we think for the better, this in turn, contributes to how we view and react to situations around us. It also helps to bring new clarity of thought to help make better decisions for ourselves and others.

Anger is an emotion and like all our emotions it is a form of signal, sending us information.Sometimes we can struggle with our emotions especially when they overwhelm and interrupt our thinking and ability to thrive.Regulating our response to emotions is required in order to attend to the emotion without letting it take over.  I work with clients on their emotional regulation equipping them with the ability to manage emotional responses in a way that empowers and enriches their lives.
Family Divorce/Separation €70 - €80
There are many aspects to consider when family life breaks down.  Loss is a central theme for everyone involved.  Children often require help adjusting to a 'new' normal.  With developmental tasks ongoing, changes bring additional stress and challenges.  I have specific training in this area and can offer help to both parents and adolescents during this difficult transition.
Psychotherapist Consultation €70 - €80
Psychotherapy offers the opportunity to better understand ourselves and how we live.  It can be the difference between surviving and thriving. Integrative psychotherapy does not try to fit the client into one type of therapy as it utilises many different therapies and can tailor-fit the therapy to the individual needs of each person.

It’s a big decision to come to counselling or psychotherapy . For some it is something they have beenconsidering for some time, while for others it’s an immediate decision inresponse to something that has come up suddenly in their life. Either way it canbe a stressful and anxious time. Knowing what to expect can make it alittle easier. Our first meeting will be an exploratory session. Thiswill allow you  to see what counselling is about and decide if it will bebeneficial for you to continue.  I will take some personal details anddiscuss confidentiality in the counselling relationship. We will move on tolook at your life and examine what has brought you to counselling at thistime.  We will also look at what you want to achieve from therapy. At the end of this session it is your decision whetherto proceed further. If  you decide yes  I would normally contract for 4 - 6 sessions after which we would review where we are. If I think your needs will be best met elsewhere Iwill offer a referral.  Therapy may involve either short term counselling orlonger term psychotherapy. This decision rests with you and what you want toachieve from the counselling process.  While I am qualified in the use of psychodynamic, humanistic and cognitive behavioral approaches I mainly work humanistically, using elements of the other models where appropriate.
