Pippa Warrell

Biography:
Pippa graduated with a BSc majoring in anatomy and physiology before completing a Post-Graduate Degree in physiotherapy in Sydney. She lectured in paediatrics, neurology and othopaedics at the physiotherapy school at the University of Sydney, both at undergraduate and post-graduate levels. After completing a full time one year post graduate specialisation in manipulative musculoskeletal physiotherapy, Pippa worked in Sydney in a private practice, treating members of the Australian Ballet Company and NSW orchestras. On moving to London, Pippa established Harley Street Physiotherapy in 1987 with Lizzie Buchanan and continued teaching on post-graduate musculoskeletal courses in both the UK and France. With much experience in patients with complex musculoskeletal problems in the spine and peripheral joints she is able to work with each patient to treat the symptoms and address the cause of those symptoms, realising that every patient presents with different requirements and goals.

Elisabeth Buchanan

Job Title:
  Physiotherapist
Biography:
Lizzie graduated with a first class diploma in physiotherapy from Otago, New Zealand, and followed this with a full time one year post-graduate diploma in manual therapy of the spine and peripheral joints. Prior to establishing Harley Street Physiotherapy with Pippa Warrell in 1985, she worked and taught at the leading teaching hospital in Geneva broadening her knowledge of French and skiing injuries along with physiotherapy. With many years of experience in the care of patients with musculosketal problems, she has specialist physiotherapy knowledge in the treatment and management of the complexities of mechanical pain. She particularly enjoys helping complex musculoskeletal conditions and has a personal interest in education both the young and old(er) in how to manage and help themselves. With 3 children of her own, she enjoys teaching and working with children. As a trustee of a small independent opera charity, she has further developed an interest and understanding of treatment of vocalists and musicians. Not with standing increasing age, she continues to enjoy sport and the treatment of both the elite and amateur athletes.

Sally Cole

Job Title:
  Physiotherapist
Biography:
Sally qualified with a BSc (Hons) in physiotherapy before completing an MSc in Manipulative Therapy at Coventry University. Initially, she worked at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge, and then spent 8 years working at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London. This enabled her to work closely with orthopaedic consultants and gain specialist status in the treatment of musculoskeletal problems. Having worked in the knee clinic with leading knee surgeons, it is not surprising Sally decided to head to the French resort of Val D’Isere to maximise her understanding of the injured knee and to ski. Since this time, Sally has enjoyed working in the team at Harley Street Physiotherapy. She is the lead physio at the branch practice in a leading law firm.

Lauren Welstead

Biography:
Lauren qualified as a physiotherapist from Bristol University of the West of England before starting her career as a musculoskeletal physio in the NHS, in Kent and Sussex. Lauren returned home to Scotland to work in private practices and taught Pilates in Edinburgh before moving to London to join the team at Harley Street Physiotherapy. Lauren’s particular love and understanding of sport resulted in travelling as a physio with the British Men’s alpine ski team, the Scottish national swimming team and, most recently, the Tour de Force (supporting a group of amateur cyclists complete the Tour de France). Additionally, she has worked with rugby teams and endurance orientated athletes. She has completed her APPI Pilates training which is a useful adjunct to facilitating patient self-management.
