Diana Wilson

Diana trained as a chartered physiotherapist at the Middlesex Hospital in central London and qualified in 1980. She went on to practise physiotherapy at some of the major London teaching hospitals – managing the out-patient departments at St Bartholomew's and Charing Cross Hospital. In 1997 she went on to take some additional training and examinations in manual therapy which enabled her to become a member of the Manipulation Association of Chartered Physiotherapists – an organisation that strives to maintain high standards of patient care through education and continuous professional development. Whilst working in the NHS Diana very much enjoyed managing a team and helping to train student physiotherapists but became tired of the red tape and waiting lists – she yearned to have her own practice where she could provide a more immediate service to her patients. She set up the Barnes Physiotherapy & Sports Clinic in Elm Bank Gardens in 1993. Diana particularly enjoys working in Barnes vilage because it gives her the opportunity to provide a much more personal service and to get to know individuals and their families very well. It is a busy friendly village which is surrounded by a whole variety of sports facilities.

Rachel Grace

Rachel graduated from the University of East London with her physiotherapy degree in 1996. She spent her first three years in a junior post at King's College Hospital and then went on to specialise in musculoskeletal physiotherapy within other primary care trusts in London. She currently splits her time between her part-time senior physiotherapy post at Finsbury Health Centre and working in private practice. She has just moved into a house in Barnes and is enjoying the benefits of working locally. Rachel's experience covers the treatment of both acute and chronic conditions. She is particularly interested in the management of back pain and is qualified in the use of acupuncture for pain relief. She has worked with leisure and professional sportsmen and women and has a diploma in sports massage. Furthermore, she has undergone training with Polestar in pilates rehabilitation using pilates equipment. Rachel has decided to go back to University part-time to complete an MSc in Manual Therapy and round off her very wide expertise. In her spare time she is a keen runner and enjoys ski-ing and travelling.

Liz Ratcliffe

Liz graduated in Physiotherapy from St George’s Hospital Medical School in London, in 2001. She spent her first four years of practice in Manchester working in the NHS, occupational health and the private sector. Since moving back to London 2 years ago, Liz now works in both the NHS and the private sector. Her experience covers a wide spectrum of conditions such as spinal, post operative and soft tissue injuries. She is used to treating injuries from the acute stage right through to the final rehabilitation back to work and sport. Her post graduate training includes a variety of manual and manipulative techniques. She is also trained in the use of acupuncture for pain relief. She is currently in the final stages of completing an MSc in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy from Sheffield Hallam University.

Carlie Skan

Carlie originally trained at the Royal Academy of Dancing. Her extensive pilates training was with the Pilates Body Awareness Method and she has taught pilates matwork in London for over five years. Her in depth knowledge of, and enthusiasm for, the pilates technique is evident in her classes which are taught with a high attention to detail and individual correction, ensuring excellent progress.

Sarah Parkinson

Sarah trained at the Royal Ballet School and continued her ballet career for several years in the UK and Germany. She has been a fitness instructor for over ten years and particularly enjoys teaching Pilates because it is a safe and very effective way of exercising. Sarah loves teaching Pilates because it is wonderful to see clients grow in confidence and develop a better quality of movement and posture, whilst gaining strength and overall toning. Our bodies are a work of art and she feels that Pilates helps us to sculpt and fine tune our bodies in a calm and stress free environment. Sarah first trained with the Pilates Institute and has continued her studies with Body Arts and Science International and Alan Herdman Pilates.

Pagan Mace

Pagan has been practising yoga for about 15 years. Her training was under Simon Low with the Yoga Academy and Triyoga. She teaches classical Hatha yoga and has also trained to teach perinatal (pregnancy) yoga and kids yoga. Yoga has been a big part of her life and she feels she has personally benefited from both the physical practice of postures, which have enhanced her balance, strength and flexibility and also through the practice of "pranayama". Prana refers to the breath and ayama means stretch or extend. Pranayama is teh fourth of the eight limbs of yoga. Pranayama is the control, harmonisation and integration of prana through the regulation of the breath. This then leads the mind and body to be ready for meditation. The clamour of rapid thoughts, of the past, present and future are reduced and the mind is quieted. Stilling the mind enables mental clarity and poise. Yoga means 'to yoke' or 'to be whole'. Yoga is an ancient philosophical discipline, harmonising the mind, body and spirit. On a physical level it enhances well-being and brings balance, strength and vitality. For the mind, it improves memory and concentration, sharpens the intellect and steadies the emotions to achieve a richer and more fulfilled life. On a deeper level, the practice of yoga leads to self-awareness and 'moksha' or 'liberation'. Hatha Yoga is the science of yoga asanas or postures.

Sas Ahmadi

Sas graduated as a Podiatrist with honours from UCL Medical School. He is a Musculoskeletal Podiatrist with a special interest in Biomechanics - the science of human movement. In addition, he is the lead Podiatrist in Biomechanics at a large teaching hospital. Sas' main area of interest is the treatment of repetitive sports injuries through analysis of movement and compensation patterns. He has treated a number of athletes including elite sportsmen and sportswomen, as well as those who enjoy sport for leisure.
