Eye Surgeons SA - Kurralta Park - Eye Clinic in Australia

Investigations available within the clinic include: OCT scan of the macular or optic nerve; computerised visual field perimetry; retinal fluorescein angiography; corneal topography; optical biometry and the latest (4th generation) formulas for intraocular lens calculation. Treatments available within the clinic include: SLT and YAG laser (usually for glaucoma); retinal laser (usually for diabetic eye disease); intraocular injections (usually for wet macular degeneration); minor lesion excision/biopsy.
RLE - Refractive Lens Exchange $1928 - $3213
This is an excellent approach for patients over the age of 40 who want to be free of glasses. It is also a good approach for younger patients who are not suitable for LASIK-type refractive surgery (e.g. very long sighted or very short sighted).  The cost depends on the type of intraocular lens required. To determine this we need to discuss your visual requirements and perform a lot of ocular measurements. A consultation costs up to $60 out of pocket (referral required; less for Pensioners) which includes all examination, discussion and measurements required.
Eye Specialist Consultation $32 - $129
All website enquiries must include details as to what they would like a consultation for.
Cataract Treatment up to $1928
Laser cataract surgery or standard phacoemulsification technique using the latest technology for pre-operative measurements and calculation as well as the latest technology for operative success and precision. If you have hospital insurance there is no gap. This covers all expenses related to the surgery (surgeon, hospital anaesthetist - everything), but there will be additional expenses for the pre-operative appointment (around $50 for measurements related to the surgery).  Laser cataract surgery incurs an extra $500 per eye which is payable to the theatre on the day of surgery. This is not covered by any Private Insurance and I would be happy to talk to you about whether you are suitable for laser or whether it is not worth spending the extra money.  If you do not have insurance the price will vary according to the type of intraocular lens that you require. When we take out the cataract, we need to replace it with a clear lens that is suited to your eye and your visual requirements. Most people pay around $1500 for the surgery if they don't have insurance (pensioners; or $2050 for non-pensioners); this includes the surgeon fee, intraocular lens (non-toric), anaesthetist and hospital fee.  It is best to make an appointment and have your eyes assessed including all of the appropriate measurements for calculating the lens that you would require. You will need a referral from your local doctor or optometrist and you can make an appointment by calling . The initial consultation costs around $60 out of pocket (less for pensioners), but the follow-up appointment post-operatively is included.

James McKelvie, Specialist Eye Surgeon - Dr James McKelvie Specialist Eye Surgeon
Cataract can affect people of any age If you’re regularly updating your glasses, struggling with glare or finding it difficult to see in dim light you may have cataract. Cataract is a clouding of the lens inside the eye that reduces vision.  Changes in the lens can occur at any age but most commonly affect those over the age of 40.  Surgery is the only effective treatment for cataract. Modern cataract surgery is painless and life-changing.   Enjoy excellent vision with freedom from glasses and contact lenses! In most cases, poor vision can be corrected with surgery. Vision correction surgery is eye surgery that aims to correct focusing errors inside the eye that cause blurry eyesight. There are many different surgical options available to correct vision. The most suitable surgical option will depend on your age and the type of refractive error you have.  Your visual requirements, the measurements, status, and health of your eyes are also important factors in deciding what kind of surgery will be best for you. Benefit from the latest surgical techniques, attention to detail and patient-focused care Pain-free cataract surgery using a no-needle technique Minimally invasive surgery to enable rapid visual recoverySame-day surgery. Vision correction surgery appointments are typically available within 1-2 weeks. Book online now or call for an appointment  Throw away your glasses! If you own one or more pairs of glasses or struggle with contact lenses, vision correction with refractive lens exchange may be the ideal solution to correct your vision permanently.  Surgical correction of distance and near vision using new intraocular lens technology is possible to achieve freedom from glasses. If you are under 65 years old a minimally invasive procedure using an ICL implant can be an excellent option to correct your vision. Refractive lens exchange is suitable for almost anyone over the age of 45. Depending on your age, refractive lens exchange may be a better and more permanent form of vision correction than laser refractive surgery such as LASIK, SMILE or PRK. Refractive lens exchange or ICL surgery can provide outstanding visual results, restoring distance, intermediate and near vision without glasses or contact lenses.  Pain-free lens exchange surgery or reversible ICL surgery using a no-needle technique Minimally invasive surgery provides a rapid visual recoverySame-day surgery.
