I had been contemplating and procrastinating about having LASIK surgery for years and years. The catalyst was scrambling through my handbag in the post office to find my glasses, to replace my prescription sunglasses . The kind shop assistant commented that she no longer had that challenge, thanks to eye surgery completed by Dr Reece Hall. That was it ! I went home and immediately made an appointment for an assessment. A few weeks later in November I had the successful surgery completed at Bowen Clinic. The results were immediate and I have estimated that I have gained approximately 365 hours a year in time not running around looking for my prescription glasses. I'm an active 52 year old and wearing glasses were a constant frustration and annoyance with sport and gardening.... constantly fogging up, slipping or getting dirty. Another reason for the procedure was cosmetic and I wanted to look my best at social occasions and was aware my spectacles were creating a serious Nana look. Best investment I have made for myself and I can now read both short and far distances without any need for glasses ! Yahoo!
Dr Reece Hall was fantastic. Professional, efficient, calm and informative. He has a lovely style including a good sense of humor which is very calming. His support team are professional and I always felt in safe hands. The actual procedure is very quick ..literally seconds on each eye. The supporting nurse is very reassuring by counting down the seconds left, The overall time in the day clinic was an hour which included a thorough eye check/measurements, discussion of the procedure and application of the local anesthetic eye drops. The following six hours for me were uncomfortable ( heavy sore watery eyes and flu like symptoms) but this discomfort starts to wear off with rest and maintaining the eye drops regularly, as instructed. It's important to wear the plastic shields provided for 1-2 weeks after the procedure as it protects your eyes from unintentional rubbing. It pays to have a pair of non-prescription sunglasses ready, as your eyes tend to be sensitive to light the few days following, There is a follow-up appointment the next day and I found my eyes had settled down considerably by then.
