Would 100% recommend and use the clinic againBonita, UK, 16 08 22

Dr Gurpreet Gill was absolutely amazing during my appointment. She was extremely thorough in her assessment and arranged a same-day X-ray for diagnosis. The results were followed up promptly the next day. Would 100% recommend and use the clinic again.

BCG Vaccine £80 - £100
- £80 for babies - £100 for Adults BCG is the vaccine against TB or tuberculosis. A Mantoux skin test is needed prior to BCG vaccination to check it’s safe to have the vaccine. In addition, many healthcare workers and many people planning to study or work abroad, particularly in the USA need a Mantoux test to show they do not have TB. The test involves a small injection in the arm, with a review 2 - 3 days later to ‘read’ the result. Mantoux testing or the alternative, TB gold or quantifier testing, can be used to test whether someone has caught TB.

Vaccination
Whooping cough (pertussis) up to £80
Whooping cough (pertussis) Price per dose: £80 Number of doses for primary course: 1 Minimum dose intervals: – Age: 3+ When a booster dose given (in years): Not required
MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) up to £37
MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) Price per dose: £37 Number of doses for primary course: 2 Minimum dose intervals: 4 weeks Infants from 6 months of age travelling to measles endemic areas or to an area where there is a current outbreak should receive MMR (Green Book, chapter 21). On 8 February 2019, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) reported that measles continues to be transmitted across Europe this year. Young people, healthcare workers and those who are not fully vaccinated remain at highest risk of measles. Travel may increase an individual’s risk of exposure to measles virus, and facilitate the spread of disease to unvaccinated and susceptible populations. Vaccination should be considered for: All travellers who have not previously had two doses of a measles containing vaccine or prior measles infection. Particularly children and those who will be living or working closely with the local population at their destination, in countries with high endemnicity or recent outbreaks. There is now overwhelming evidence that MMR does not cause autism. Also, it has been suggested that combined MMR vaccine could potentially overload the immune system. From the moment of birth, humans are exposed to countless numbers of foreign antigens and infectious agents in their everyday environment. Responding to the three viruses in MMR would use only a tiny proportion of the total capacity of an infant’s immune system. The three viruses in MMR replicate at different rates from each other and would be expected to reach high levels at different times (Green Book, chapter 21).

Shingles Vaccine from £149
What is Shingles? Shingles is an infection of a nerve and the area of skin supplied by the nerve. It is caused by a virus called the Varicella-zoster virus (this is the same virus that causes chickenpox). Shingles is sometimes called Herpes zoster. The symptoms of Shingles starts with tingling or burning in an area of the skin and is followed by the eruption of a painful rash usually on one side of the body or face that takes 2-4 weeks to resolve.  Shingles can occur at any age, but it is most common in people over the age of 50 years. About 1 in 4 people develop Shingles during their lifetime. It is also possible to get Shingles more than once, although fortunately fewer than 10% of people who have a first attack will have another one. Can Shingles be prevented? The good news is that there is now a Shingles vaccine available to people aged 50 and over. It has been shown to be effective in reducing the risk of older people developing Shingles, and even if you do develop Shingles then the disease is likely to affect you less severely. A national immunisation programme is available for those aged 70 - 79, but is being introduced in phases.  Can I be vaccinated privately? At Armada Travel Clinic we can offer it for those aged 50 or over. The vaccine is a single dose injection at a cost of £149. Please contact Armada Travel Clinic for further information or to book an appointment.
