He studied and obtained the Master of Science in Clinical Dermatology in 2005, under King’s College London, at the prestigious St John’s Institute of Dermatology.  During the development of his career in dermatology, he obtained a number of dermatology qualifications covering various academic levels of the discipline and was a teaching fellow for Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and undergraduate examiner for QMUL and King’s College University of London. He has given dermatology lectures on acne, atopic eczema and skin cancer to medical students as well as an online tutorial for General Practitioners internationally.  Since the completion of dermatology training (Wessex rotation) in 2014, Dr Alvin Lee has worked as a Consultant Dermatologist in many secondary and tertiary dermatology centres. He was previously appointed as a substantive Consultant Dermatologists in King’s College Hospital 2017-2019 and has since relocated to Dorchester, Dorset. He is currently appointed by the Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as a Substantive NHS Consultant Dermatologist. During the first visit the patient will have a full consultation with Dr Farrell to cover their skin concern. If appropriate, Dr Farrell may also examine other sites of the skin, as sometimes other sites of the body can be similarly affected. (e.g. in the case of sun damage). Dr Farrell with discuss with you the diagnoses, relevant investigations and treatment plan. Some investigations can be done on the day but others may need approval from your insurance company . Dr Farrell will also suggest a treatment plan and provide relevant information leaflets. The clinic also has available on site many of the products that may be required as part of the treatment plan and we can dispense these on the day. We also provide a postal service so that repeat requests for product can be supplied. Dr Farrell will usually also follow up the consultation with a typed report which will be posted to you within a few days summarising the discussion. Dr Farrell usually writes to your General Practitioner with her recommendations and a copy is sent to you. If you are attending for purely a cosmetic reason and do not wish Dr Farrell to write to your GP then she will respect your wishes, but if you wish she will send a recommendation of treatments to you. If you are funding the consultation and treatment through insurance it is important that you obtain an authorisation number for the consultation before the visit.  We offer a number of solutions at our clinic for Acne. There are various professional methods to improve active acne, depending on the individual. Chemical peels, Microdermabrasion, Nuriss Acne Homecare products and Nuriss Acne Clear Laser can all improve the appearance of your skin and clear the Acne spots. It is important to get the acne under control first before tackling the scarring to get the best results As a GP and skin specialist, I see all new patients with acne, as quite often we need to use a combination of medical and aesthetic treatments to improve things. In-clinic treatments include: Acne Laser Treatments Advanced Nuriss Acne Blue light laser therapy programmes can help to get your Acne under control.   Our Nuriss AFT laser system uses intense blue wavelengths of light to destroy P. acnes bacteria, the bacteria known to be linked to acne. This treatment is generally three times faster than common antibiotics and topical treatments. Most people require 6-8 treatments over a four- eight week period.The results are accumulative and you will generally start seeing results after just a couple of treatments. We also ofter a Q-switch Clearlfit laser which targets pores, pigment, bacteria and collagen. This laser course consists typically of 4-6 treatments every 7-10 days. For acne scarring, once the acne has fully cleared, we offer ipixel resurfacing laser and dermaroller, dermastamp and mesotherapy. Consultation fee is £100 and this is redeemeable against the cost of any treatments purchased. Laser prices start from £150.00.
