Dr
Chew qualified in 1997 and currently holds an NHS Consultant
Dermatologist post at the King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust,
London. She is heavily involved in running the skin cancer service at
King's Beckenham Beacon site, one of the most active skin cancer
services in the South-East region.
Her dermatology training
comprised of clinical posts at the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS
Foundation Trust, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and St
John’s Institute of Dermatology, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals NHS
Foundation Trust, London.
She held a research post and visiting
fellowship at University of San Francisco, California. During her
training years in California, she published and presented extensively in
the field of contact dermatitis, co-authoring with her mentor, Prof
Howard Maibach and is co-editor of a textbook ‘Irritant Dermatitis’.
Other
published journal articles include the field of scarring alopecia,
co-authoring with Dr Fenton (a leading UK specialist in this field) and
Prof Vera Price (a renown hair specialist from the University of
California, San Francisco).
She has also held an Honorary
Consultant post at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, in the
specialist Hair & Nails service.
Her interest in
eczema/dermatitis and dry skin conditions is a more personal one. With
several relatives suffering from these conditions, she fully understands
the impact this can have on one’s life and the lives’ of ones’ carers.
She encourages a more holistic approach to treating long term conditions
such as these, with many successful outcomes.
Dr Chew welcomes
referrals for mole checks, skin cancers, benign lumps and bumps, skin
surgery, including non-invasive laser procedures, inflammatory skin
conditions or rashes
(such as acne, eczema, psoriasis), dry skin
conditions and hair/scalp conditions (such as alopecia areata and
scarring alopecias).
