Medicover Hospital Hungary

Váci út 29-31., Budapest, 1134
Rating from 2 Reviews High standards, service and professional in every wayAnonymous, Kent, 16 May 17

Being a woman on my own and having a lot of medical issues I have struggled to find proper health care in the UK. I managed to get 1 NHS hospital appt in 9 yrs, after asking numerous times for a confirmation letter for this appointment I never received one. It is obvious there is no proper medical healthcare in U.K for absolutely any medical problem. I contacted Medicover Hospital in Hungary via Whatclinic due to the high standard of care previously seen. Medicover provided me with a list of consultations for doctors to see due to the concerns I mentioned. I arranged 3 consultations with them thus far and I am happy with the professionalism of the hospital. Firstly I was met at airport and taken to hotel by their polite driver. The following day at Medicover I entered a very clean modern building with friendly welcoming staff. This puts you at ease immediately. The doctors wear white coats, greet their patients and show you to the consultation room. I have never been so thoroughly examined in any UK hospital, private or NHS in my entire life. Every detail, health issue noted nothing was overlooked. The doctors explained things thoroughly and they listen to you. The eye specialist exam completed a thorough examination, sight tests, eye machines etc. I had dilation of pupils having had cataract surgery 20 odd years ago and was never able to get an exam in U.K afterwards. Previously I was given a prescription for medication for the fluid pouring from my eyes since visiting this clinic I am using drops, which treats the actual leak. The cardiologist did a thorough examination and prescribed further tests as he was not happy with my blood pressure. At the the Gastrology exam another complete and thorough examination was done and I was given list of full treatment that had to be done. The overall examination took about 4 hours, but it was nice to have someone do such a complete check of my health. I cannot find 1 negative thing to say about the care I received from the Medicover Hospital just that I have never experience this type of treatment at any hospital in the UK. High standards, service and professional in every way. I am returning very soon and have also been offered appointments with any other specialist I wish to see. I was driven back to the airport the following day and escorted to the departure lounge. One day was all it took to diagnose the root problem and I am so happy I visited this hospital.

An impressive Organisation to which I hold in high regardStephen, Hungary, 08 Nov 17

It’s been just over three weeks since my operation, so I feel I can leave a review now. For many years I had issues with my sinus (post nasal drip, runny nose, difficulty breathing through my nose), using various medications and methods that may initially help, but ultimately didn’t work and I guess I lost faith. I went for consultations in Ireland but was less than impressed, both public and private. I go to Budapest for work occasionally and having had dental treatment there I was really happy with the standards. Having done some research I contacted Medicover in Budapest. I initially went for a consultation, approx. three weeks before the operation, the offices were modern and the equipment state of the art (I believe it’s only open a few years), the people working there were also nice and welcoming with a good level of English. As part of my consultation, I initially had a CT scan on my sinus, just to see the areas of blockage and air flow and check for any deviations in my septum. Afterwards Dr. Szabó, an affable man, who was my ENT Consultant and ultimately my Surgeon. He looked at the CT scan and also examined me using an Endoscope and diagnosed enlarged turbinate’s, diseased Maxillary Sinus and a Deviated Septum. The recommendation was FESS, a Mucosectomy (Turbinectomy) and corrective surgery for my deviated septum. After a period of thought and also comparing my CT scan (they give you a copy) with Google images related to the diagnosis and procedures, everything pretty much added up. I arrived the day before surgery to complete various tests – Anesthesia consultation, blood tests, EKG, chest x-ray etc. The following morning I arrived for surgery. I wasn’t particularly nervous before, I knew it was something that would really help me and had confidence in my surgeon and his colleagues, so I was at peace (my pulse readings were normal just before surgery). Post-surgery is not much fun, but not too inconvenient. I stayed in the hospital for two nights during which time I had silicone implants and had to wear this nose mustache thing, so it was uncomfortable, but not particularly painful. The private room was perfectly adequate and the nurse and nighttime staff really nice. On leaving the hospital Dr. Szabó removed the implants and provided some prescriptions, I stayed in Budapest for another 4 days (you shouldn’t fly too soon afterward) and went for a check-up, and following that returned home. It takes time to fully heal, and I will have been using saline rinses (really helps) and am just about to start using a nasal spread as per my surgeon's recommendation. In conclusion, I can now breathe through my nose since I don’t know when like there are new passages where air can go. As opposed to blowing my nose every hour it now rarely happens and I can no longer feel phlegm in the back of my throat. I have the greatest respect for Dr. Szabó, I think a great surgeon and also a lovely man, not to mention the others working there from the receptionists to the nurses to the customer service, an impressive Organisation to which I hold in high regard.

The clinic is very goodDavid, Hungary, 28 Nov 16

I needed to do some post-check of my skin marks and since I had not been very happy with other dermatologist I decided to try the private one. The clinic is very good. It's a small size, but staff is very attentive, they speak English and you can feel that they really do care about your problems. The price for the basic consultation is bit too high I would say but on the other hand, comparing the other places is still ok. I can definitely recommend this one.
