What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are anti-aging products that are injected into the skin of patients to add volume. They are injected to make skin that is sagging or has become wrinkled because of age look smooth and plump. They are also called injectable facial fillers, injectable cosmetic fillers or soft tissue fillers.  They are made of hyaluronic acid taken from animals or from the fat of the patient. It takes five minutes to an hour to perform dermal filler procedures.

How long do Dermal Fillers last?

Dermal fillers last from six months to five years. They are not permanent and are absorbed by the skin over time.

Is the administration of Dermal Fillers painful?

Local anaesthetic is applied to the skin before dermal filler injections are administered. Patients will feel the pain of the injection during the procedure and after the anaesthetic wears off, for a few days. Some fillers contain an analgesic substance called lidocaine. These fillers are less painful than other fillers.

When can I travel by air after the administration of Dermal Fillers?

Patients should wait one week after getting dermal fillers injected before travelling by air. Air travel can aggravate the swelling and bruising that may occur after dermal fillers are injected.

How long does recovery take after the administration of Dermal Fillers?

Recovery from dermal filler injections may take seven to fourteen days. Recovery depends on each individual patient.

What after care is required after the administration of Dermal Fillers?

Patients should avoid smoking and drinking alcohol until any swelling has subsided. They should avoid touching their face for at least one day. They should avoid going in direct sunlight for at least two days. They should drink plenty of water after the treatment. They should not get any beauty treatments done on their face for at least a week. They should avoid strenuous exercises and lifting heavy objects for at least a month. They should avoid blood thinning medications for a few weeks.  Patients should perform facial exercises for a few hours after the procedure.

What are the alternatives to Dermal Fillers?

Collagen stimulation therapy, some herbal medicines or lotions and micro-current assisted skin toning are some alternatives to injecting dermal fillers.

I am thrilledCharlotte, UK, 21 01 15

I have been having problems with my skin. After a consultation with Dr Rakus, she recommended that I try Dr Levy products. They have been amazing as my skin was very dehydrated. The products not only made my skin look less dehydrated but a lot of the inflammation and redness has gone. I am thrilled as my skin keeps getting better! I will be back.

The overall result is subtle, natural and I am completely happy with itAlice, UK, 09 05 18

I had dermal fillers to restore cheek volume. I was given a few options to choose from and I went for the shorter-term one as I had never had fillers before and wasn't sure what it would look like or if I would like it. The injections themselves were not painful at all, just slightly uncomfortable. The results were immediately visible and I had very minimal swelling and no bruising at all, despite the fact I normally bruise very easily. I did not have any pain later on in the day and had no problems sleeping. Today (less than 24 hours later) my cheeks feel a little bit odd to the touch as I can feel there is something under the skin, but other than that, I completely forgot about it, as I feel no pain or discomfort whatsoever. The overall result is subtle, natural and I am completely happy with it. The clinic was easy to find and close to public transport. Liz was very welcoming, professional and friendly; she made me feel immediately at ease. I originally went in for a consultation on under eye vein removal. Liz was very honest about the fact that the type of treatment they do at this clinic would not have been suitable for my condition and recommended a different procedure, which they did not specialise in here. I then enquired about dermal fillers and was given thorough explanations of the treatment and options available. All my questions were answered and Liz clearly knows what she's doing! I would recommend this clinic without hesitation and will definitely go back.

The price depends on how much filler will be used
Marionette lines £200 - £325
As we age, the soft tissues of the face are affected by gravity and the jowls start forming, leaving the jaw line looking saggy and irregular. The unsightly downturned mouth corners appear giving a sad appearance to the face. The "marionette lines" are the folds from mouth corners to the sides of the chin. The appearance of those lines can be improved with small amount of dermal filler with just 1 injection each side. Complete numbing of the area can be achieved by giving a dental nerve block for more comfortable injections. The price will depend on the severity of lines and amount of filler required for optimal correction.
Nasolabial folds (nose to mouth lines) from £300
Unsightly nose to mouth lines (nasolabial folds) appear as we age. It can be corrected with an easy and painless procedure with just 1 injection per side as Dr Linea uses a blunt cannula to perform the procedure which allows her to access the whole area with just one injection point. The procedure is absolutely painless and a dental block can be provided for more sensitive or nervous patients. The result will last up to 1 year and price depends on the severity of the lines and filler required.

I highly recommend.Daniel, UK, 14 10 14

I needed to see a dentist urgently. With Dr. Shenas' dental studio, I got an appointment in less than 24 hours. The staff are fantastic, and Dr. Shenas is extremely personable. Dr. Shenas advised me that I didn't need the treatment I was expecting, thus saving me a decent sum of money. I highly recommend.
