I can not say enough fantastic things about my experience with this clinic and Dr Nurullah, Dr Mani and their entire team. From the amazing surgeons, the nursing staff, administration, kitchen staff and domestic.
EVERY single one of them is wonderful. From the moment we found this clinic, after much research, firstly in the UK. We came across The Antalya obesity clinic.
Like most people from the UK im sure, we were, of course, hesitant to opt for surgery abroad. But from the very first consultation we had with Dr mani via video call, we felt confident to go ahead.
Dr Mani is the kindest and most patient man and will quickly put you and your family at ease in an instant. He spent almost an hour on a video call with my husband and myself answering the MANY questions that we had.
I want to make clear that there was NEVER any hard sell or pressure to put on us.
If anything I probably made myself a bit of a permanent feature in Dr Mani's instant messages on a daily basis during the week prior to my arrival! Yet I was never made to feel like it was too much trouble and dr mani kindly made time to answer all my messages, regardless of how many I sent (I sent alot!).
The man has the patience of a saint! From booking, arrival, pick up from the airport, arrival at the beautiful clinic and meeting the team and staff, everything was a breeze.
Nothing could have been easier
I took a friend with me who was allowed to stay in the room with me and was given 3 meals per day (all included in the original price) and my friend was made to feel so welcome and involved the whole time. Don't worry about any language barrier as it really isn't a problem. I downloaded Google translate but I didn't need it once. Dr mani speak fantastic English as doing much staff. Nesra (I think that's how its spelt) is an amazing translator and is always on hand. Thank you, Nesra.
Day 1 we arrived. The range of tests and health checks I was given was unbelievable! Literally, every possible check you can think of from covid, full blood range, cardiology, ct scan the list was endless. All done by caring kind staff. I met with the consultants and of course the wonderful Dr Nurullah and Dr mani. Who's bedside manners are possibly the nicest I've ever come across.
Day 2, surgery day! - after a great night sleep thanks to a 'team talk' with Dr mani, who quickly put any thoughts of being nervous out of my mind. I was taken to surgery. Even the anaesthetist had a great sense of humour and had me laughing as I dropped off to sleep.
I had been told I would feel a bit groggy for around 4 hours afterwards and I'm sure if I had timed it... it would have been to the exact minute! I only felt nauseous twice that day but was never actually sick and as quick as the feeling came over me, it went away again.
4 hours after I was up and walking about, at first with staff help just to get me out of bed, but then I was up and about and felt absolutely fine!
It was unbelievable how good I felt. I was and kept expecting some kind of slump to feel rough but it NEVER happened! My friend was amazed and kept saying she couldn't believe how well I looked and how I was up and about.
At this point, I would like to say again THANK YOU, Dr Mani, for keeping my husband informed in the UK by way of voice messages on the surgery going well. My family are so grateful for this.
Every day the entire surgical team came to visit me more than once. In between, they were the nursing staff, and in between, they were the domestics, who came in 3 times a day to clean our room. In between domestic came my friend's meals 3 times per day so you never have any time to wonder when someone will come and check on you. If I wrote every good thing about my experience then this would go on and on!
Day 3 - leak test and start to drink liquids and have broth. I didn't like the broth much and an hour later a lovely gentleman knocked my door from the restaurant next door, holding a pot of homemade broth! Nesra had arranged this to be delivered!
Day 4 - drain out, shower and out for a walk! Dr mani came to remove my small drain which he knew I was nervous about having taken out. He reassured me and I really need not of worried as it was fine, just as he had said.
On Fridays outside the hospital is a lovely farmers market which I was encouraged to get dressed and go for a wander around with my friend. The sun was shining and it was lovely to take in the air and local people selling their fruit and veg, spices and some clothes. I felt amazing!!
I was also given my education on diet and medications. Dr Nurullah and Dr mani and their team came round one final time to see me and to say goodbye and wish me well.
I also suddenly realised I hadn't settled my payment for my surgery, as not at any time had anyone mentioned that I needed to go and pay it!!
I think it was around 4 pm on my last day that I realised I needed to pay for this! (I was leaving at 6 am the next day!) And no one had hassled me; pressured me or even said anything! You will never be made to feel that you are just a business transaction at all.
You are made to feel like family.
Day 5 - home! Back to blighty.
Aftercare and contact are also fantastic. You have to keep reminding yourself that you are not in the same country and that they are busy doctors and surgeons because they will never make you feel that they are too busy for you. Even now I'm home. The clinic is beautifully clean and well presented, the staff are hugely covid safe and not once did we see anyone without masks on. Not for a second.
Temp tests are taken at the door, hand sanitizers are everywhere, masks and gloves worn at all times.
I'm now day 5 post-op and still can't get over how fantastic I feel. I'm looking forward to continuing my journey and can't thank these guys enough for making this so positive in EVERY single way. THANK YOU Dr Mani and Dr Nurullah.
Can't recommend enough and any future surgery that I consider having for anything. I would want to go back to these guys..
