I could see the improvement in my own behaviour after a few sessionsAlbert, Ireland, 24 04 19

Aidan Lakes provided an excellent service from start to end. I was referred to Aidan through my work EAP program. I felt really nervous at the beginning since I was visiting a different provider for a long time before I met him. My life was a complete mess. The issues I had were: Separation, Court Hearing, Child Custody plus a second break up on the top of all. I arrived at Aidan clinic a few days after "The worst day of my life", Aidan was very easy to chat to and supported me until I was able to stand on my feet again. I could see the improvement in my own behaviour after a few sessions. I would recomend his services.

I found his approach very respectful and full of insight at the same timeDomenico, Dublin, 20 09 18

I've contacted Marcello after having closed a treatment with another psychotherapist during 2017. I found here a non-judgemental place where step by step I could open myself and explain the reason/s that brought me to ask his help. I found his approach very respectful and full of insight at the same time. This gave me the opportunity to understand better my behaviour, what beliefs were limiting my social and private life. Now after almost 8 months I feel more confident in taking actions, less strict with myself and more open to experimenting my personal way to achieve my potential. With the conviction that getting better is mainly a process than a result and even sometimes I don't get what I want. I may always enjoy my path towards this progress, being less self-critical than I was before. I choose Dublin Psychotherapy mainly because as Italian I was looking for the same mother-tongue therapist.

OCD - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Treatment
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is the name given to a condition in which people experience repetitive and upsetting thoughts and/or behaviours. OCD has two main features: Obsessions and Compulsions. Obsessions: Obsessions can come in the form of involuntary thoughts, images or impulses. Common obsessions include, but are not limited to: fears about dirt, germs and contamination. Fear of acting out violent or aggressive thoughts or impulses. Unreasonable fears of harming others, especially loved ones. Abhorrent blasphemous or sexual thoughts. Inordinate concern with order, arrangement or symmetry. Inability to discard useless or worn out possessions. Fears that things are not safe, especially household appliances. The main features of obsessions are that they are automatic, frequent, upsetting or distressing, and difficult to control or get rid of. Compulsions: Just as with obsessions, there are many types of compulsions. It is common for people to carry out a compulsion in order to reduce the anxiety they feel from an obsession. Common compulsions include excessive washing and cleaning, checking, repetitive actions such as touching, counting, arranging and ordering. Hoarding, ritualistic behaviours that lessen the chances of provoking an obsession (e.g. putting all sharp objects out of sight). Acts which reduce obsessional fears (e.g. wearing only certain colours). Compulsions can be observable actions, for example washing, but they can also be mental rituals such as repeating words or phrases, counting, or saying a prayer. Again, not all types of compulsions are listed here. The main features of compulsions are they are repetitive and stereotyped actions that the person feels forced to perform. People can have compulsions without having obsessional thoughts but, very often, these two occur together. Carrying out a compulsion reduces the person’s anxiety and makes the urge to perform the compulsion again stronger each time

Initial Meeting This may be your first time entering therapy; here is a list of what we have seen to be true for many people about therapy: •It takes time to establish a trusting relationship with a therapist. •It is important to go at your own pace and not overwhelm yourself.  •We all resist change. Don’t be surprised if you are tempted to quit right before some real changes or breakthroughs are about to happen. •Becoming more healthy and balanced can feel very unfamiliar and uncomfortable at first. •Therapy is hard work. •Some therapy is short term (usually focusing on one issue and situation) and other therapy may be longer term (more than one or complex issues.)  •Expect your therapist to hold strong boundaries, be ethical, and treat you with respect.  •Remember that therapy, in the hands of a skilled therapist, is a powerful and life-changing experience. It has been shown to be effective for a variety of difficulties and problems. If you need therapy and work as an active participant in your own treatment, you can expect it will be well worth the time and money you invest.
