I was delighted to be seen promptly and the therapist facilitated me with a late appointmentThomas, Ireland, 25 07 18

I saw Fiona after my GP recommended that I go for a physio assessment. I was complaining of various aches and pains from sports injuries. Fiona thoroughly examined me, reassured me that all was ok and that my complaints were par for the course with my particular sport. She emphasised to me the importance of warming up/cooling down and stretching properly. Fiona had come recommended to me. I was delighted to be seen promptly and Fiona facilitated me with a late appointment.

Great experience and good to know we have such a lovely therapist in our areaEvelyn, Ireland, 20 09 16

My son has an on-going groin injury that can flare up during his hurling matches. He had an important semi final last Saturday and was determined to play. Roisin agreed to tape up his leg/groin area so that it supported the muscles during the game. Even though they lost the match he managed to play the entire game pain free and he was thrilled with that. Thanks so much Roisin! Great experience and good to know we have such a lovely therapist in our area.

Cork Acupuncture Clinic is my go to practitioner whenever me or my family need any treatmentsTheresa, Ireland, 11 10 16

Ken is always professional and friendly, I first went to him last July, I had just travelled here and was carrying a lot of stress from a transatlantic move,I was experiencing a troublesome pain in my mid back that was coming through to my chest, I had cupping and alternative treatments done in the past, so I knew what I wanted, the treatment was well paced not rushed, I always feeI calm and taken care of by the time the treatment is through. In the days following I felt great relief . Supsequently I have had accupuncture and cupping for neck - shoulder pains from sleeping badly, I have had relief everytime. I love cupping and have grown to go to accupuncture also, no one loves the idea of needle, but Ken is very careful and an aware practioner. Cork Acupuncture Clinic is my go to practitioner whenever me or my family need any treatments. I have had, acupuncture and cupping done, Ken is knowledgeable and a competent practitioner I would and have recommended him. the clinic is clean and warm.It is operated from home Fyi.parking available.

The body is treated as a whole and the aim of the treatment is to bring it back to balance.  Posture and muscle tone is observed and your health history is taken into consideration before  a physical therapy treatment is given.  Deep masage, trigger point release, soft tissue release, myofascial release are the techniques that are used depending on what the patient needs. Homecare advice is given, such as stretches and strengthening exercises.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger points, also known as trigger sites or muscle knots, are described as hyperirritable spots in skeletal muscle that are associated with palpable nodules in taut bands of muscle fibres. The trigger point model states that unexplained pain frequently radiates from these points of local tenderness to broader areas, sometimes distant from the trigger point itself. Trigger point release can give quick relief from pain in many cases.
STT - Soft Tissue Therapy
This is a technique for stretching soft tissues, primarily muscles, fascia and tendons.  Many clients complain of having tight musscles. Sometimes stretching  gives temporary relief from the feelings of tightness. One of the reasons bacis stretching gives only temporary relief is because muscles are not uniformly tight.  There may be localised areas of tension or adhesions restricting a few fibres only. When we perform active stretches, it may not necessarily be the tight part that lengthens, but the part that is more pliable. Soft tissue release helps localize a stretch to those fibres in the muscles that most need lengthening. This technique improves both range of movement and quality of movement making it more fluid and less jerky, a real booost to any athlete.  This tachnique is used in a physical therapy treatment or in a pre event sport massage.

What I appreciated most, were the therapist hands-on approach and his honestyAnonymous, Ireland, 28 09 18

I had a rugby injury and chose this clinic because Paul had quite good reviews as well as a background in rugby. I had a number of sessions with him and the results speak for themselves. What I appreciated most, were Paul’s hands-on approach and his honesty. He let me know up front that if he could not fix the problem in the first two sessions, that I’d have to get an MRI or see a doctor. I’m so impressed that I’ve already recommended a few of my friends. My initial impressions were good. I filled out a questionnaire in the waiting room before we began. Had four sessions of around 45 minutes each. I wasn’t given any medication, just some exercises to do at home. During the were, Paul was very practical and he helped me do some rehabilitation exercises. Unlike some other physios I’ve encountered, he didn’t expect me to do all the work on my own. This was great.
