Dr. Nikolaos Th. Manias studied medicine under scholarships at the Universities of Athens, Greece, and Sheffield, UK. He graduated Cum Laude in 1977.He specialised in Obstetrics-Gynecology and Gynecological Endocrinology and Infertility (1982-1987). He has authored, co-authored and presented several scientific papers in International and Greek Meetings, he has given numerous lectures at Seminars sponsored by the Society of Hellenic Gynecological Endocrinology as well as post-graduate courses in Gynecology.He is founder as well as Director of the "Center for Assisted Human Reproduction MITROTIS", which includes a complete program of IN VITRO FERTILISATION (IVF) and INTRACYTOPLASMIC SPERM INJECTION (ICSI). Dr Elena Kontogianni BSc, PhD, is an embryologist-geneticist and a pioneer in infertility treatment and preimplantation genetics.Scientific excellence combined with her deep caring for the patients is what makes her unique in her field. She has helped thousands of couples overcome their fertility issues and become parents. She has shared with them the anxiety in the first stages, when they don’t know if they can have a baby, but also the unique moments of happiness and fulfillment when more than 7,000 IVF  babies were born with her help.She performed the first Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis in the world, at Hammersmith Hospital, in the team of Lord Professor Robert Winston and Professor Alan H. Handyside. She is actively working on Preimplantation Diagnosis for chromosomal abnormalities and ß-thalassaemia and was awarded by the Greek Medical Association for her research. She teaches at the Post-Graduate Program of Reproductive Medicine in the Medical School of the University of Athens.
