Deep Tissue Massage  
targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. The massage therapist uses slower strokes or friction techniques across the grain of the muscle. Deep tissue massage is used for chronically tight or painful muscles, repetitive strain, postural problems, or recovery from injury. People often feel sore for one to two days after deep tissue massage. Rather than a , it is especially helpful for problem areas which affect many people. These include back, neck and shoulder problems. Usually within these areas of pain, brought on by muscle tension or injury, lie bands or adhesions of painful rigid tissue in tendons, ligaments and muscles. These adhesions can actually block the circulation of blood flow resulting in inflammation and limited movement. The deep tissue massage process actually helps to break down these adhesions to relieve pain and eventually restore the muscle to normal movement. There will be some pain and discomfort during points of the massage but this is quite normal and aids in the healing process. Swedish Massage  
is the most common type and form of massage performed in the West and it is where many people have their first experience of enjoying the . This type of massage focuses on the superficial layers of muscle as opposed to deep tissue massage. Therapists will use long, flowing and smooth strokes with a kneading action and this is aided by the use of massage oil or lotion. Lubrication with massage oil or lotion helps warm up the affected area or location to be worked on and this helps to break up superficial muscle adhesions or knots which helps release tension and stiffness. This type of massage is also very relaxing and promotes various health benefits such as increasing the oxygen blood levels, reducing muscle toxins and generally improving circulation. It has been shown that Swedish massage is particularly beneficial for people suffering with joint stiffness and poor circulation and also those with osteoarthritis. In fact a recent study conducted by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine found that individuals who received a 45 minute Swedish massage had a notable reduction in the stress hormone known as cortisol. These individuals also experienced an increase in their immunity levels with an increase in their white blood cell count.

Having developed high blood pressure at an early age of 23 and having lots of tests carried out with no real answers, I began to question my weight. A few years passed after trying various different well-known diets and failed miserably. I gained more weight if anything! I came across Mr Hamouda after a recommendation from a close family member who has also had a sleeve operation - losing close to 8st in under a year, she has also maintained this weight for nearly 18 months. On my initial consultation with Hamouda, I felt at ease and was able to disclose any personal issues relating to eating disorders. My wife and my 8-month-old child were all welcome. He likes to invite close family members to your appointments as he likes you to have support from your loved ones, I thought that he would find my child annoying throughout the consultation but Dr Hamouda was the complete opposite. Once I was accepted for my sleeve operation I was put under the careful care of he's team who were all brilliant at every stage. The support was there for me before, during and now after my operation. The care at Benenden was outstanding, treated like a king in his own hotel room! 1-1 care, nothing was a problem and would recommend this hospital for anyone thinking of weight loss surgery. Since my operation just over a year ago I have lost nearly 9st. Without a sleeve operation, this would never of happen. My BMI has dropped by 15 and has lost over 60 inches around my whole body. If anyone for some reason is questioning Dr Hamouda or weight loss surgery then don’t! Dr Hamouda not only changed my life but allowed me to start living it again. In the words of my wife, “ he’s like a new man now “ This just leaves me to say THANK YOU! You are an outstanding consultant and a genuine hero of mine.
