My story starts out a little differently than most. I was scheduled to have a knee replacement, two weeks before my surgery, I had a tooth break, I was told I had to get it fixed before they would reschedule my surgery. After several visits to my local dentist, I was told I needed about $16k worth of work, 2 implants and other fixes to get cleared. I asked about a total reconstruction; I was told it would be upwards of $70k. I have travelled for most of my life and remembered getting inexpensive dental work done overseas so I started researching countries, eventually choosing Costa Rica due to the travel costs and the fact I had never been there. The treatment was the very best, with state-of-the-art equipment, he was able to show me what would need to be done, gave me options to the procedure and explained the process completely so I could make an educated decision on the path I wanted to take. The staff there is amazing, they will answer all of your questions and help in any way they can. I selected to have the sedation as part of my procedure, one of the staff members helped my wife get me back to our hotel and made sure I was ok through the entire process (and they even answered calls after hours). I know some are asking about the cost, the procedure and all the implants (10 of them) was $17k, about 24% of the cost of getting it done in the US. So, after two visits now I have a great new smile (with lots of complements) that I have not had for years, made some new friends (staff and other patients) and along the way got to experience a beautiful country and its people, pura vida.
