What is Gum Contouring and Reshaping?

Gum contouring surgery is a procedure performed to improve the appearance of smiles. It is also called gum reshaping or gum tissue sculpting surgery. Laser gum surgery is performed using a diode laser to remove excessive gum tissue and give them an even appearance. Bi-polar electrosurgery using a radiosurgery unit and a low current to cut gum tissue is also used for gum contouring.

Traditional gum contouring surgery, laser gum surgery and radiosurgery are performed under local anaesthesia. Patients will not feel any pain during the procedure. They may experience swelling and discomfort after the procedure.
