What are fillings?

Fillings or dental fillings are used to repair the damaged surfaces of teeth. The surface of teeth may be damaged by small fractures, damaged enamel or decay. It takes 25 to 90 minutes to place a filling in a tooth.

Patients should not eat for at least three hours till the anaesthesia wears off. They should not eat or drink anything that is too hot or too cold for a few days. They should avoid very hard food. They should take all prescribed medications correctly. They should follow correct dental hygiene and brush and floss their teeth regularly.

Root Filling  
The root canal is the space within the root of a tooth housing the nerve and blood vessels. If these structures become inflamed they must be removed & the canal cleaned. The canal is shaped and decontamination. Finally the canal is filled. This may take 2 or 3 visits. The root canal treatment itself is pain free but many patients have tooth ache PRIOR to the inital dental visit which can be painful.

Regular patient of Dr Sharma and recommend her to everyone I talk to. I had a cracked tooth this week, turns out it was quite significant and went below the gum line. Instead of opting for more drastic solutions, Dr Sharma put in a filling, and it was not small. Great work (again), you cannot tell I had a problem and quite honestly it looks better than it did before it was cracked. Also, no pain for me or my purse. Continue to be very happy with Dr Sharma's great work.

The main aim of root canal treatment also known as endodontic treatment is to save a tooth that has been badly damaged due to decay, disease or injury. I cannot recommend Dr Vivian Huynh and the team at Shellharbour City Dental highly enough. My son suddenly experienced excruciating pain while visiting the area, and Dr Vivian was able to see us within 2 hours. She treated my son with the utmost care and respect, and was able to diagnose and rectify the cause of his pain with extreme efficiency and with zero discomfort to my 10yo. She provided excellent documentation in the hopes we can submit the expense to our travel insurance, but even if we cant, the price she charged was extremely reasonable. What a lifesaver. Thank you Dr Vivian. We owe you.
