From initial contact with Llayda—who organised the immaculate accommodation and the pre-arranged transport from the airport to the hotel, and was available for any queries at any respectful time—to the start of the journey into a health ‘service’ that I could not receive in the UK, even privately, I was thoroughly impressed.
I will never engage with ‘private’ UK healthcare again, where I couldn’t even receive a full MRI body scan and was told I had to use the NHS for a blood test. I was further told the consultancy fee would cover pre-examination and post-examination—where the consultant "normally knocks a bit off." I’ve never felt so insulted.
Upon visiting EMSEA Hospital, I met my interpreter Issa, a pleasant, well-spoken man who was akin to a historian. Issa was supportive and stayed with me for the full five days. I met specialist after specialist, and from one department to the next, my prior results were forwarded—apart from the MRI scan, which was understandably more complex.
The results were delivered to me with honesty—and truthfully, that was all I wanted: not to be dealing with ego, as often happens in the UK. Even privately, I could not have received this level of care, support, or service back home.
I am qualified to say this after engaging with private healthcare in the UK. Yes, for some procedures, it’s great—but when it comes down to brass tacks and serious complex conditions, I would (unfortunately) suggest avoiding the UK.
Again, thank you to Llayda, who was my initial point of contact; Issa, who was my support and interpreter; and Nil, who helped me with prescriptions in the evenings. Thank you, Nil, for being a thoughtful and caring lady, and for your support.
All notes were received, translated via PDF file, and a hard copy of the MRI scan was provided in a wallet, so that in future, doctors in the UK don’t just suggest, they get told what is required.
Best regards,
Mr. Patterson, UK
