What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are anti-aging products that are injected into the skin of patients to add volume. They are injected to make skin that is sagging or has become wrinkled because of age look smooth and plump. They are also called injectable facial fillers, injectable cosmetic fillers or soft tissue fillers.  They are made of hyaluronic acid taken from animals or from the fat of the patient. It takes five minutes to an hour to perform dermal filler procedures.

How long do Dermal Fillers last?

Dermal fillers last from six months to five years. They are not permanent and are absorbed by the skin over time.

Is the administration of Dermal Fillers painful?

Local anaesthetic is applied to the skin before dermal filler injections are administered. Patients will feel the pain of the injection during the procedure and after the anaesthetic wears off, for a few days. Some fillers contain an analgesic substance called lidocaine. These fillers are less painful than other fillers.

When can I travel by air after the administration of Dermal Fillers?

Patients should wait one week after getting dermal fillers injected before travelling by air. Air travel can aggravate the swelling and bruising that may occur after dermal fillers are injected.

How long does recovery take after the administration of Dermal Fillers?

Recovery from dermal filler injections may take seven to fourteen days. Recovery depends on each individual patient.

What after care is required after the administration of Dermal Fillers?

Patients should avoid smoking and drinking alcohol until any swelling has subsided. They should avoid touching their face for at least one day. They should avoid going in direct sunlight for at least two days. They should drink plenty of water after the treatment. They should not get any beauty treatments done on their face for at least a week. They should avoid strenuous exercises and lifting heavy objects for at least a month. They should avoid blood thinning medications for a few weeks.  Patients should perform facial exercises for a few hours after the procedure.

What are the alternatives to Dermal Fillers?

Collagen stimulation therapy, some herbal medicines or lotions and micro-current assisted skin toning are some alternatives to injecting dermal fillers.

Dermal Fillers from £150
Dermal fillers consist of a gel-like substance. There are different types of gel; the most common gel used in modern aesthetic treatments is primarily constructed using Hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar contained in our skin and connective tissues. Its primary function is to maintain moisture and keep our tissues hydrated. Part of the ageing process will involve reduction of moisture in our skin. With its unique properties, allowing it to hold up to 1000 times its weight in water, Hyaluronic acid is a wonderful anti-ageing ingredient, hydrating the surrounding treated area. As it is already contained within us, our body recognises this material as safe, and so reactions to it are extremely rare. HA is tolerated well within the skin. It is more common to have a reaction to other substances such as cleaning products used and anaesthetics contained within products. At Dr Olivia Clinics only the safest products and practices are used, and we are fully equipped to treat any adverse effects. The products we use can be fully dissolved should any unwanted outcomes occur.
Lip Augmentation from £150
Lip fillers are arguably one of the most popular facial aesthetic treatments today and are heavily endorsed by celebrities and influencers. There are many reasons why someone may be unhappy with the size and shape of their lips. Ageing can cause the lips to appear thinner and less defined. For others, their lips may be naturally narrow with a less prominent cupid’s bow. At Dr Olivia Clinics, our lip filler treatments have been developed to specifically enhance the natural pattern of your lips, helping you achieve more defined, beautifully shaped, bigger lips. Our semi-permanent fillers are a man made, non-animal gel that mimics the body’s natural hyaluronic acid, providing you with a safe, long-lasting and natural looking result.

Fillers are made using hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occurring substance in our bodies. They usually come in 0.5ml or 1ml syringes. Prices are dependent the type and size of filler required, which are based your facial anatomy and your desired outcome. During the consultation, I will carry out a full facial assessment, check your suitability for any treatment that you are considering and offer treatment recommendations. The side effects of the treatment are temporary and typically mild, however, every patient is different in terms of the downtime they may experience. Please see the treatment care section for more information on how to minimise bruising.
Lip Augmentation from £180
There are many benefits of dermal lip fillers. Your appointment time may take up to 45 minutes depending on how long your consultation process lasts, but the procedure itself only takes around 5-10 minutes. I will adjust the amount and type of filler used to achieve results with precision. Creating either a very natural or fuller look as per your choice. I am aware that many people are anxious about the procedure being painful and may have a phobia of needles. I endeavour to make your experience as comfortable as possible. Numbing cream will be applied and I use a gentle technique as well as giving you lots of reassurance! There may be some temporary side effects of this treatment which are typically mild, however every patient is different in terms of the downtime they may experience. This is something to bear in mind if you have an upcoming social event! Please see the treatment care section for more information on how to minimise bruising.
Treatment for Wrinkles
Anti Wrinkle Injections from £120
As we age, repeated muscle contraction coupled with loss of skin elasticity causes fine lines and wrinkles to appear on the upper face. Exposure to the sun or genetics can also speed this process up. Without that smooth appearance we can sometimes look tired and feel less confident in our skin. Anti-aging injections are very popular as they are a quick and convenient way to smooth out those lines, particularly around the forehead, frown and eye area. The procedure takes minutes and involves tiny needles being injecting into the muscles causing these lines. Any marks from the needles fade shortly after, usually leaving no visible signs except in very rare cases sometimes a small bruise.
