What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are anti-aging products that are injected into the skin of patients to add volume. They are injected to make skin that is sagging or has become wrinkled because of age look smooth and plump. They are also called injectable facial fillers, injectable cosmetic fillers or soft tissue fillers.  They are made of hyaluronic acid taken from animals or from the fat of the patient. It takes five minutes to an hour to perform dermal filler procedures.

How long do Dermal Fillers last?

Dermal fillers last from six months to five years. They are not permanent and are absorbed by the skin over time.

Is the administration of Dermal Fillers painful?

Local anaesthetic is applied to the skin before dermal filler injections are administered. Patients will feel the pain of the injection during the procedure and after the anaesthetic wears off, for a few days. Some fillers contain an analgesic substance called lidocaine. These fillers are less painful than other fillers.

When can I travel by air after the administration of Dermal Fillers?

Patients should wait one week after getting dermal fillers injected before travelling by air. Air travel can aggravate the swelling and bruising that may occur after dermal fillers are injected.

How long does recovery take after the administration of Dermal Fillers?

Recovery from dermal filler injections may take seven to fourteen days. Recovery depends on each individual patient.

What after care is required after the administration of Dermal Fillers?

Patients should avoid smoking and drinking alcohol until any swelling has subsided. They should avoid touching their face for at least one day. They should avoid going in direct sunlight for at least two days. They should drink plenty of water after the treatment. They should not get any beauty treatments done on their face for at least a week. They should avoid strenuous exercises and lifting heavy objects for at least a month. They should avoid blood thinning medications for a few weeks.  Patients should perform facial exercises for a few hours after the procedure.

What are the alternatives to Dermal Fillers?

Collagen stimulation therapy, some herbal medicines or lotions and micro-current assisted skin toning are some alternatives to injecting dermal fillers.

Excellent work and a great sense of humour too that was really appreciatedJuliet, UK, 29 10 19

Very quick and efficient all round. I had a broken upper molar that required extraction, and after looking at the tooth and explaining implications of extraction I had 2 quick injections. This was the worst bit of the whole experience as injections often are. I was talked through the process as each root was extracted, and reassured as he removed it as to where he was going to work next. Cannot fault the procedure or the staff in any way. It was all completed in 15 minutes. Excellent work and a great sense of humour too that was really appreciated. Unfortunately cannot remember Dentist/surgeons name.

DERMAL FILLERS What are dermal fillers and how do they work?  The Dermal Fillers that I use are 100% hyaluronic acid based”, wrinkle-filling products.  These products are highly biocompatible and are slowly absorbed. Naturally present in the skin, hyaluronic acid preserves moisturising levels in the skin and boosts tone.  Hyaluronic acid is a powerful moisturising agent, the quantity of which in the dermis gradually decreases with age. As a result, the skin dries out and becomes fragile, and the first wrinkles appear. The tissues progressively sag and the face becomes hollow. Will it Hurt?  Dermal fillers are relatively painless because the gel is injected directly into the skin in very tiny amounts at a time using an ultra fine needle, although sensitivity can vary dependent on which areas of the face are being treated. Some patients may notice a slight throbbing or even stinging following injection, but this discomfort fades away shortly after. The procedure is very simple and convenient, with practically instant results! You should be able to resume normal activities directly after treatment. How long will it take to work?  After receiving your treatment, you will notice the effects immediately. You may also notice some temporary mild swelling but this will usually disappear in approximately 24 hours How long does it last?  The Dermal Fillers treatment can and should last between six and eighteen months (depending on volume and areas being treated) with no need to protect the treatment or use any cosmetics to increase it’s length, potency or effect.  Where can be treated?  Dermal fillers can be injected into the entire face (including the lips), neckline, neck and hands.

I was instantly made to feel welcome and relaxedAlex, UK, 13 07 17

I first had a consultation with Amy and talked about what areas of my face I wanted to enhance. I decided to go for lip enhancements, cheek enhancements and fillers on my crows feet and forehead! I'm not very good with pain so I decided to get it all done at the same time. I don't think I have ever been so nervous in my life! Amy was very reassuring and used a very good numbing cream on all the areas that were going to be injected. The fillers and lip enhancements were a doddle. I felt a slight scratch when the needle went in but no pain at all. I have to admit the lips, on the other hand, were quite painful. It's just the initial insertion of the needle that really stings but as soon as the needle is taken out it didn't hurt, so it really was a matter of bursts of pain that lasted seconds over a couple of minutes. After the procedure, my lips felt massive as they were numb and swollen. When I looked at myself in the mirror I was in shock as it was a little strange to see myself with full lips but, I absolutely LOVE them! They have taken a couple of days for the swelling to come down, but now I think they look so natural and really lovely. The fillers that I had has not yet started to show effect, apparently, this can take up to 2 weeks. The fillers procedure didn't hurt at all, an absolute breeze after I had my lips done! My cheek enhancement didn't hurt either and I have had no bruising or swelling in the areas. It has lifted my cheeks slightly and given a softer line from my nose to my mouth. Overall, I am extremely happy and would definitely be going back on a regular basis! Amy is one of the nicest people I have met. She is absolutely lovely. In my initial consultation, she talked me through everything in such detail. She answered all my questions and showed me examples of her work. I didn't really know what procedures I wanted, all I knew was what I wanted to change about my face. Amy was able to talk through different procedures and recommend the best ones for the finished result I was looking for. The clinic is based at Amy's lovely home in a beautiful, clean, modern room. I was instantly made to feel welcome and relaxed! On the day of my procedures I was a nervous wreck. Amy was so reassuring, comforting and kind. I worked myself up for nothing. It was a great experience and I will recommend Amy to everyone I know! Thank you,
