About Mindfully Well Cork

Are you overwhelmed by stress? Anxious or having panic attacks? Suffering from re cent or past trauma? Feeling depressed or just plain stuck? Sick and exhausted? Self-esteem at rock bottom? Trying to quit smoking or lose weight?

Do you feel like you have tried everything? Don’t like asking for help?If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, I can help you feel better quickly.

I offer practical and reliable help so that you can get your life back on track quickly and easily saving you time and money. I can help you to:
  • Manage stress
  • Feel happier & more confident
  • Sleep well
  • Feel calm & relaxed
  • Improve your self-esteem
  • Kick those bad habits once & for all
  • Get fit & healthy
  • Improve your relationships
  • Be the person you really want to be!

My guarantee to you is that I will take as few sessions as possible, I will measure your progress every step of the way and that you will learn new skills that you can apply immediately to manage your stress.

Each session lasts about an hour and costs €60. Longer sessions are also available or you can buy a bundle, six counselling sessions for the price of five.

Stress-free private parking in Douglas, on 207 bus route from city centre (bus stops outside).

The sessions are all about encouraging self-reliance, confidence and lasting emotional health. I start from where you are now and focus on getting you to where you’d like to be in as few sessions as possible. I use the most up to date, effective psychological techniques based on a modern understanding of the brain/mind/body system and what people really need to thrive and be happy.

Sometimes people come to me over a period of several months, perhaps every week at the start and then tapering off to every two or three weeks . It’s also fine if you want to come to me for only one or two sessions – with my solution focused brief therapy methods, one or two sessions may be all you need!

At the start of our sessions I usually ask you complete some short questionnaires (ticking boxes) about how you have been feeling over the past week. The reason for this is that you can then look back and see clearly the progress that you have made over the weeks. If you are interested I have lots of hand-outs with useful tips about emotional health and lists of useful books and Internet resources, plus my own free audio relaxation CDs. I will also note down and give you a list of any goals that you might have decided that you want to work on between sessions.

Biography:
I have worked in administration and business and was involved in the start-up of several businesses before moving into small business coaching. About fifteen years ago when living in Co Kerry, I moved into adult education and community development work. I taught many different subjects but enjoyed the personal development classes the most. Time to get back to psychology in a bigger way – I took the plunge and embarked on a counselling Master’s Degree and set up my own private counselling practise here in Douglas, Cork city in 2012. My degree involved setting up and running a project with a group of fibromyalgia sufferers in Cork city. Fibromyalgia is a devastating condition – symptoms range from extreme fatigue to constant pain and disturbed sleep. Research is showing that therapies which use the mind-body connection really help. I taught the skills of mindfulness and breathing, pacing, drawing on our personal resources and setting new and realistic goals really helped their mood and sleep. I am delighted to be still running Mindfulness workshops for both the Cork Fibromyalgia and the Cork branch of the Irish ME Trust and also see clients with stress related illnesses on a one to one basis. I am proud to be a founder member of MindfullyWell, a network of counsellors and psychotherapists in Ireland and Northern Ireland and also to be one half (together with Karl Hyden) of the Hyden-Winfield Consultancy which provides education, training and consultancy to people and organisations in Ireland in the area of mental toughness. We work with people who are interested in overcoming significant emotional, physical or life challenges, including unemployed adults, young people returning to work or education and those experiencing ill health or disability.
