Karen Crookes Osteopath Drumcondra - Osteopathic Clinic in Ireland

Karen Crookes Osteopath Drumcondra

Unit 4 Botanic Health, Cian Park, Drumcondra, Dublin 9
Osteopathic treatment for the whole family.  It is your first step towards good health. Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment which works with the structure and function of the body. For osteopaths, it is extremely important for the body to be physically balanced in order to function optimally. Problems with the musculoskeletal framework of the body can affect the circulatory, lymphatic and neuronal pathways to any part of the body and therefore can possibly affect any aspect of health. Osteopaths find health within the individual. They look to resolve dysfunctions within the structure, bringing the body back to a balanced state.

Stresses and strains can accumulate over time and symptoms may begin somewhat insidiously. The Osteopath works with structural imbalances that are present in the body to restore a state of physical balance. Patients often report improvement in many areas of their health. Most people associate osteopathy with back and spinal care for which it can prove to be an effective solution for helping with associated pain. Mechanical problems in the structure of the body can not only lead to aches or pains in the joints, tissues, muscles etc. but it can also lead to disturbances in the internal organs and the way they work. Irregular function may impair blood circulation or lymphatic drainage, and disrupt the nerve supply to any part of the body, thus having a detrimental effect on health. Osteopaths use a wide range of “hands on” techniques to identify, diagnose and treat dysfunction in the body in order to restore the body’s structure and function to a state of balance so that the healing process can be accelerated, thereby improving vitality and general health. Osteopathy does far more than care for back pain and postural irregularities. It also deals with a wide array of issues such as: migrainesheadachesdigestive problemsperiod problemsrespiratory problemsvulnerability to infections due to a depleted immune systemIt has a calming affect on the nervous system and can help with fatigue, mood swings or depression, disturbed sleep. It can help people resolve emotional issues such as anger, grief, depression.

Dr James A Dolan - Osteopathic Practice - Osteopathic Clinic in Ireland

Dr James A Dolan - Osteopathic Practice

191 Howth rd, Killester, Dublin, Dublin 3
Rating from 3 Reviews I couldn't recommend him highly enoughMarlene, Ireland, 25 Jun 14

Brilliant. Dr Dolan is a great osteopath and I couldn't recommend him highly enough. I've seen other Chiropractors and osteopaths in the 25 year period I suffered from back problems and he is the one I keep going back to as I get results. Unlike some practitioners who resort to traction tables and machines (the lazy approach). Dr Dolan's is 'hands on'. No fancy gadgets/machinery. Just good training, experience and a good ear: you tell him where you're hurting and he fixes it.

Highly recommendedDermotR, Ireland, 29 Sep 14

Range of conditions Dr Dolan has attend my family and I for over 20 years. We have always found him to be superb in terms of diagnosis, treatment, communications, friendliness, availability and cost. His combination of conventional medicine supported by homeo and osteopathy ably equip him. I attribute our family's low illness incidence and quick recovery (with minimal use of antibiotics) to his approach. Highly recommended from infant to middle age patients.

Central Remedial Clinic - General Practice in Ireland

Central Remedial Clinic

Vernon Avenue, Clontarf, Dublin, Dublin 3
Rating from 1 Review The price is extremely competitiveAnn, Ireland, 08 Mar 14

I would like to strongly recommend this clinic. I have attended the clinic and received treatment from both Kathy and in her absence Ciara. Both girls are extremely knowledgeable , professional and friendly in their approach, and explain everything to you, as they work. Initially I attended for back and neck pain , which was largely due to posture and wear and tear. I had been to other physios, and chiropractors before with no success. After treatment from Kathy and by following her exercise programme and by doing Pilates at the adjoining centre, which Kathy discussed with the Pilates teacher, I now have no pain in these areas and I am much stronger physically, and more toned. Last year I suffered a bad knee injury after a skiing accident which entailed surgery to a ligament in the knee. I attended the clinic post op and received first class treatment to get the knee back to fitness. This included physio, and strapping for the swelling and they recommended an exercise programme with detailed exercises for the knee and leg which they monitored throughout my rehab. I was back exercising Racehorses well within the target dates .The knee is strong and pain free with no problems at all.I put this down to the dedication of Kathy and Ciara, who were always encouraging and positive with the treatment . The clinic is welcoming , easy to find and to park , and the price is extremely competitive.

Posture Check €15
Are you a swayback? A sloucher? Military type? Does your bum stick out a bit too much? The truth is the way you sit or stand can have a negative effect on your body over time causing niggling aches or worse. Read on to find out what posture type you might have. Poor posture while sitting, walking or even just standing up can lead to additional strain on your neck and back muscles, as well as your nerves. This excess and unnecessary strain can build up over time and give you the aches that you feel on your back and neck. About 80% of people suffer from back or neck pain at some stage in their lives. Are you feeling any niggling pains or tension now? When the spine is not in proper alignment, the back muscles, ligaments, discs and spinal joints are all under extra stress. If not corrected, this may lead to more permanent problems.Back and neck pain can be improved by correcting poor posture, stretching tight muscles and strengthening weak muscles. How we can help you to become pain free? Firstly we need to diagnose the postural problems that may be causing your pain.  Our expert physical therapist will check out for any imbalances along with muscles that may be too weak or too tight.
CST - Craniosacral Therapy €45 - €70
Craniosacral Therapy, or CST as it is sometimes called, is a very gentle hands-on approach to releasing tensions from the soft tissue of the body, and restrictions to the cranial bones (head) and the sacrum (the big triangular bone at the base of the spine) and in between. These bones are connected by the membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord, and with them form what is known as the craniosacral system, which encloses the central nervous system. All of the nerves of the central nervous system have to go through these membranes on their way to and from the brain. Therefore anything that affects this bone/membrane system adversely, could have far reaching effects and is often at the root of such conditions as chronic pain, digestive and respiratory disorders, joint mobility, vertebral disc and jaw problems and much, much more.

Rating from 6 Reviews No gain without painValerie, Ireland, 01 Jun 17

I had a deep tissue massage. They say no gain without pain and certainly, I felt pain. However 6 hours later I have absolutely no pain in my back. Really good. On completion, the receptionist offered a 20%discount off a future treatment for which advance payment was needed. I told her I wanted to see if the treatment worked prior to booking further appointments. This is a once only offer b 4 leaving.???? Surely a discount when one establishes that it has worked and a client wants to return would make better sense.
