Really appreciate that I was contacted quickly after leaving a voicemail to fit me in for an appointment on that day which was badly needed. 5 50 Reflexology • Paid: €65

I go to Iwona to get a full body massage. I have a problem with my neck and shoulder. So I decided I would get reflexology this time from her. She explains the treatment in relation to reflexology, but also works in a holistic way to provide an enjoyable /relaxing /healing experience. She is very passionate about what she can offer her clients. I wasn't sleeping great and I had a great sleep after my treatment. I am looking forward to my next treatment. I have no hesitation in recommending Iwona to others who are open to find ways of helping improve their health and wellbeing. Thank you Iwona, it is a lovely experience that I will always look forward to.

Fertility - Alternative Treatment

Did you know that reflexology can be used to help with fertility problems?

By stimulating the parts of the feet relating to the reproductive organs and endocrine glands, it is possible to promote greater health and balance in these areas. It can help couples who have been otherwise unable to conceive. I practice natural fertility treatments for both men and women. As recent studies have shown that sub-fertility is affecting both men and women in equal numbers. I offer practical and down to earth information on infertility, conception and pregnancy. I support my clients from infertility to fertility and for the duration of their pregnancy aiding in their care. Reflexology has been known to aid in certain conditions such as PCOS, endometriosis, irregular periods or ovulation and stress related fertility issues to name but a few.

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is the fastest, easiest and most natural way for you to make the changes you desire. Unlike many other methods people use to for change, hypnosis allows you to change the emotional or feeling part of your mind. It is not an unusual state of mind and you may feel that you are not in a trance or hypnosis. For most people they just feel relaxed. There is a change in the brain wave activity similar to that time just before sleep when the alpha state is entered.

What is hypnotherapy?Hypnotherapy is therapy carried out in hypnosis. Hypnosis is a tool of therapy ,it facilitates a relaxed state of being so the core issue can be dealt with easily and permanently.

Can anyone be hypnotised?

Yes, all hypnosis is self hypnosis the hypnotherapists act as a guide to lead you into trance.

Will I be under the control of the hypnotist?

No, you will be fully aware throughout the session and in full control.

How does the hypnotic CD help?

The CD’s are designed to reinforce the work you did during the session and help you to relax. Relaxation combats stress and anxiety. Experts say it takes up to 3 weeks for new neural pathways to form, repeated listening to your audio will ensure the desired change takes place.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

Deep tissue massage is a specialised massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscles. Deep tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish massage, but the pressure will generally be more intense. It is also a more focused type of massage, as the therapist works to release chronic muscle tension or knots (also known as adhesions).

Deep tissue massage is used to release chronic muscle tension through slower strokes and more direct deep pressure or friction applied along or across the muscles. Deep tissue massage helps to break up and eliminate scar tissue. Deep tissue massage usually focuses on more specific areas, such as the back, or the back of the legs.

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage is part of the Ayurvedic system. Ayurveda, the “Science of Life” is an ancient Indian medical system, believed by many to be the oldest medical system in the world. It emphasizes the uniqueness of the individual, aiming to restore balance and inner harmony to mind, body and spirit, improving health and prolonging life. Ayuveda recommends the use of massage, mainly to improve blood circulation and expel toxins from the body.

Indian women traditionally practiced head massage as part of their grooming, initially limiting it to the head and hair, with the objective of keeping hair in beautiful condition. Barbers also practiced, combining haircuts with “champi” (head massage). The tradition was brought to the west by Narendra Mehta, a blind therapist who grew up in India and trained in England as a physiotherapist in the 1970s. Disappointed that massage in England did not extend to the head, he formalized techniques for head massage to include the neck, shoulders and upper arms as well as the head, combining massage with Ayurvedic elements of energy points or charkas, creating a therapy he called Indian Champissage. It is based on acupressure massage, and its benefits are felt throughout the body. The upper arms, shoulders, neck, head and face are massaged to promote relaxation and relieve tension.

Indian Head Massage is excellent for treating both physical and mental ailments:

  1. By relaxing muscle and nerve fibres, it relieves tension, pain and fatigue.
  2. It increases oxygen supply to the brain, aiding clarity of thought and concentration and relieving mental strain.
  3. It stimulates endorphin release, helping natural pain relief and increasing feelings of well-being.
  4. The sympathetic nervous system is calmed, slowing the heart rate and reducing stress.
  5. The parasympathetic nervous system is stimulated, helping one to relax and promoting restful sleep.

After the treatment a person

Lomi Lomi Massage

What is it?

Originating in Polynesia, Lomi Lomi Massage (also known as Aloha or Kahuna massage) is a complete healing system which aims to restore harmony and balance within the body, mind and spirit.

The word Lomi means to massage; Lomi Lomi means to massage with intention. This is one of the most important principles behind this beautiful bodywork as the practitioner always works on the body with love, nurturing and healing in mind. Hawaiians have always had a deep connection with nature, in particular with the ocean, and this connection is echoed in Lomi Lomi as the practitioner performs long, continuous, sweeping strokes over the body reminiscent of the ebb and flow of the ocean’s waves. These strokes, performed fluidly and rhythmically with both the hands and forearms, work gently and deeply into the muscles releasing tension, as well as on the blood and lymphatic systems making it a powerful, detoxifying massage. They are also designed to help the body let go of old memories, beliefs and behavioural patterns which, in Hawaiian culture, are believed to be stored in every cell of our bodies. These ideas and thoughts can prevent us from living our lives to their true potential and are capable of causing just as much stress and strain on the body as muscle tension.

Hawaiians perceive health in terms of energy flow. If there is a blockage obstructing the natural flow of energy then pain, illness or disease may result.Lomi Lomi Massage uses intuitive movement, breath work, focused attention and rhythm to release energy blockages and physical tension to bring about a state of harmony and deep relaxation.

What to expect from a treatment

A brief consultation will be carried out to establish if there are any contraindications to the treatment and then the therapist will leave you to undress. There will be a couple of minutes of chanting music whilst both the client and practitioner set their intention

Pregnancy Massage can help alleviate many of the symptoms and conditions associated with pregnancy. During this amazing time of physical and emotional change, pregnancy massage can be of enormous benefit to both the mother and baby.

  • Muscle tension,
  • Muscle spasm & cramping,
  • Sciatic pain ,
  • Swelling oedema
  • Back, neck and shoulder discomfort caused by hormonal and postural changes.
  •  Improve quality of sleep

  • Pregnancy massage assists in reducing tension in the weight bearing joints and other bone and muscle structures.
  • It also helps maximize breathing capacity which is needed during labor and delivery.

Osteopath Consultation

Stresses and strains can accumulate over time and symptoms may begin somewhat insidiously. The Osteopath works with structural imbalances that are present in the body to restore a state of physical balance. Patients often report improvement in many areas of their health.

Most people associate osteopathy with back and spinal care for which it can prove to be an effective solution for helping with associated pain. Mechanical problems in the structure of the body can not only lead to aches or pains in the joints, tissues, muscles etc. but it can also lead to disturbances in the internal organs and the way they work. Irregular function may impair blood circulation or lymphatic drainage, and disrupt the nerve supply to any part of the body, thus having a detrimental effect on health.

Osteopaths use a wide range of “hands on” techniques to identify, diagnose and treat dysfunction in the body in order to restore the body’s structure and function to a state of balance so that the healing process can be accelerated, thereby improving vitality and general health.

Osteopathy does far more than care for back pain and postural irregularities. It also deals with a wide array of issues such as:

  • migraines
  • headaches
  • digestive problems
  • period problems
  • respiratory problems
  • vulnerability to infections due to a depleted immune system

It has a calming affect on the nervous system and can help with fatigue, mood swings or depression, disturbed sleep. It can help people resolve emotional issues such as anger, grief, depression.

Acupuncture

Acupuncturist Consultation

Acupuncture is a therapeutic practice that originated in China thousands of years ago. In western medicine, the goal is often to diagnose disease and treat it specifically; in acupuncture, the goal is to strengthen the entire mind and body, supporting our inherent resilience and resistance to disease.

According to traditional Chinese philosophy, our health is dependent on the body’s motivating energy (Qi, pronounced ‘chee’) moving in a smooth and balanced way through a series of channels (meridians) beneath the skin that connect the interior and exterior of the body, and the internal systems to each other.

Qi consists of equal and opposite qualities – Yin and Yang. When Qi becomes blocked or disrupted, illness can result. Acupuncture aims to bring all systems into balance by inserting fine needles into the meridians. It can also be used to complement conventional medicine.

What can acupuncture treat?

Acupuncture has been used to treat a range of conditions including:

*       Anxiety and depression.

*       Arthritis and rheumatism.

*       Asthma.

*       High blood pressure.

*       Menstrual cramps.

*       Skin problems.

*       Pain relief in childbirth.

*       Addiction – smoking, alcohol and drugs.

What happens during an acupuncture session?

If it is your first session, the acupuncturist will assess your general health to ensure that you receive the most effective treatment. They may enquire about your current symptoms, treatment you have received so far, medical history, your close family’s medical history, diet, digestive system, sleeping patterns and emotional state.

Mr Neil Rooney

Job Title:
  Practice Therapist
Biography:

Osteopath

Physical Therapist

Neil Rooney graduated from the institute of Physical Therapy and Applied Science in 2001. Since then he has worked in Dublin (Ireland), Dubai (U.A.E) and London (U.K.) as a personal fitness trainer and Physical Therapist. He graduated from the British School of Osteopathy with a Masters degree in Osteopathy. Most of his work has been with the general population but with a sporting background of regular marathon and half marathon running, cycling and Ironman triathlons, he has a keen interest in sporting related injury and rehabilitation.

An Osteopathic evaluation will involve taking a detailed medical case history to ensure that treatment is appropriate. If treatment is appropriate we will first examine the area and any other joints or muscles that we might consider to be involved in the condition. It is not unusual for this to include clinical examinations such as an abdominal, cardiovascular or respiratory exam. After the examination is complete we will explain to you the diagnosis and the appropriate management and treatment before beginning treatment. At subsequent visits we will re-examine the muscles and joints indicated at the first appointment and commence treatment in accordance with the management plan.

Treatment will differ for every patient because it is tailored to the diagnosis and the circumstances surrounding the symptoms. Treatment will usually involve soft tissue massage, joint articulation and mobilisations (often accompanied with a “click”), stretching muscles and releasing trigger points (“knots”) all of which are aimed at reducing pain and restoring function or range of movement.

He is also qualified in Western Medical Acupuncture and Kinesio Taping and he regularly uses these tools during his osteopathic management to speed up recovery. He also uses the principles of functional movement and biomechanics when addressing musculoskeletal conditions and believes correct movement will improve a lot of dysfunction.

Mary Costello

Job Title:
  Health Trainer
Biography:
Mary Costello. Certified Infant Massage Instructor. Birthlight Baby Yoga Instructor. My name is Mary Costello and I teach Baby Massage and Baby Yoga courses to parents. I am a Certified Infant Massage Instructor (CIMI) with further training in massage for babies with additional needs and in massage with preterm infants. Having trained with Kirsty Hawthorn, International Trainer with the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM), I qualified as a baby massage instructor.I was a member of the Board of Baby Massage Ireland (the Irish Chapter of the International Association) for three years, working as Membership Administrator and as the International Chapter Representative. I am a huge believer in the benefits of both massage and yoga for health and wellbeing, and I believe that these benefits apply equally to babies as to adults. It is never too early to start, and the foundation we lay for our babies will affect them throughout their whole life. To expand my knowledge and qualifications in baby massage, I completed a course with Ewa Westman (Swedish International Trainer with IAIM), on Massage for Babies with Additional Needs. I took an educational training workshop entitled The Preterm Infant: The NICU Experience and Beyond. This workshop was specifically designed for Infant Massage Instructors and given by Cherry Bond, Positive Touch Specialist Neonatal Nurse from St. Mary’s in London.
