What are Skin Tags and how are they removed?

Skin tags are unsightly but harmless skin growths. They grow on a stem and are usually found on the eyelids and face, neck, armpits or under breasts. They are also called polyps or soft fibroma. Surgical and nonsurgical procedures are used to remove skin tags by cutting, tying, burning, using electrosurgery, or freezing, using liquid nitrogen called cryosurgery.

Is Skin Tag Removal painful?

A local anaesthetic or numbing cream is applied to the skin tag area before it is removed. Patients will not feel pain when skin tags are removed.

Can I travel by air after Skin Tag Removal?

Patients should wait at least a day after skin tag removal before flying so that the local anaesthetic has completely worn off.

When will I recover after Skin Tag Removal?

It takes four to five days before patients fully recover after a skin tag is removed. Recovery time depends on the number of skin tags, the size of the skin tag and the area of the body where they are located.

What care is required after Skin Tag Removal?

Patients should take all prescribed medications and apply topical medications correctly. They should sleep with their head elevated for two days. They should avoid strenuous exercise and lifting heavy objects for at least a week. They should avoid exposing the treated area to direct sunlight for at least nine months. They should avoid touching or scratching the treated area to ensure that the healing is quick.

skin tag removal and chemical peel I had a skin tag removed and a chemical peel to help with my skin issues, Rebecca was very helpful and informative. The only problem is how far the clinic is from me!

Service was very goodHayley, UK, 07 Jan 15

The price was what was quoted and the service was very good. I've had skin tag removal so will have to wait up to 4/6weeks to see if it has worked, although I have been assured that it will.

What is Cryotherapy? Cryotherapy is a procedure that uses extreme cold to destroy unwanted tissue – most unwanted skin lesions can be treated in this way, including as warts, moles, skin tags and verucas amongst others. How Does it Work? Tissue cells are destroyed during the procedure when they are rapidly brought down to a low temperature forming ice crystals. The ice crystals break down the structure of the cell and water then fills the surrounding area creating a blister. Healing occurs within 1 to 6 weeks depending on the depth of the freeze. Is it painful? There may be some tingling with the initial freezing, but most patients get an anaesthetic effect from the extreme freezing temperatures. More of a pinching sensation occurs when the area thaws out. Some patients may have some discomfort the day after the first procedure but ibuprofen is usually adequate to alleviate this. Will there be scarring? Typically cryosurgery leaves the least amount of scarring of any form of lesion removal because it causes the least damage to the connective tissue. The area of skin treated will appear lighter than the surrounding skin which usually darkens with new tanning. How many treatments are required? For most conditions, cryosurgery is a permanent removal. Some conditions are harder to remove than others, and in delicate areas a shorter freeze time with repeat procedures may be required to achieve a final result with the least damage to surrounding skin. In other cases, where the condition is deep (such as stubborn warts or verucas) several aggressive treatments may be required to achieve total removal. Please take a look at the before and after pictures below for an illustration of the CryoPen’s effectiveness.

Strouden Park Medical Centre

Rating from 5 Reviews I couldn’t be happier with the resultsAmanda, Southampton (Portswood), 12 Jul 16

After visiting many beauty clinics in the Southampton area and trying different Laser and IPL treatments to remove a large stubborn Spider Naevi I had on my nose (and after being told by another clinic after a couple of treatments of Electrolysis that I would have to learn to live with it) I then used WhatClinic.com and found Melissa at Strouden Park Beauty Clinic in Bournemouth. Melissa not only finally removed the Spider Naevi but also other sun damage areas I had on my face and chest using different IPL systems. I couldn’t be happier with the results and in the future I will definitely always use the Strouden Park Beauty Clinic and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Extremely pleased with the resultsDenise, UK, 16 Jan 17

Rating from 5 Reviews Professional and friendlyBrian, Gillingham, Dorset, 12 Apr 15

Treatment was immediate after consultation. Informative , professional and friendly.

Excellent service and careGlen, UK, 11 Aug 15

The treatment is an art, some jab away, some don't last, some just don't make you feel very comfortable. Austin is professional, knowledgeable and very fairly priced for his excellent care and service. Never been bruised and the treatment lasts longer than the stated 3 months before a top up is required. Keep it up and the wrinkles come back softer each time and much slower. The clinic is spotless, extremely modern and very professional. All patient records are kept officially with digital photos. There is no up selling or sales patter. You go in tell him what bothers you, sort out a treatment plan and he gets on with it. Never felt pressured to spend more than i asked for. Appointments are made when you require them and he always tries to fit you in to suit you the client, not himself.
