What is Acne Scar Treatment?

Acne scars are scars left on the skin of patients who have suffered severe acne. Surgical and nonsurgical procedures are performed to remove acne scars.

How is Acne Scar Treatment performed?

Acne scars are removed using nonsurgical aesthetic procedures including chemical peels, where an acid is used to peel off the top layer of skin, microdermabrasion, where abrasive crystals are sprayed onto the skin to remove the top layer, anti-aging injectables to make the skin smooth and plump, skin needling procedures, laser assisted skin resurfacing and surgical skin grafting procedures.

Is Acne Scar Treatment painful?

Nonsurgical procedures to treat acne scarring are not painful. Laser assisted treatments are performed after putting numbing creams or after administering a local anaesthetic. Surgical skin grafting procedures are performed using general anaesthesia. Patients will not feel any pain during procedures.

When can I travel by air after having an Acne Scar Treatment?

Patients can travel by air a day after nonsurgical acne scar treatments. They should not travel by air for at least two weeks after surgical skin graft procedures.

How long does recovery take after undergoing an Acne Scar Treatment?

Recovery after nonsurgical acne scar treatments takes about two weeks. Recovery after surgical skin graft treatments takes about three to five weeks.

What after care is required after an Acne Scar Treatment?

Patients should take all prescribed medications and apply topical medications correctly after nonsurgical acne scar treatments. Patients should not touch or scratch the treated area after surgical and nonsurgical acne scar procedures. Patients should avoid exposing the treated area to direct sunlight for at least six months.

MEDICAL SKIN NEEDLING WHAT IS SKIN NEEDLING? & HOW DOES IT WORK? Skin needling is a safe and increasingly popular skin renewal technique to restore the healthy youthful appearance of your skin.  Skin needling produces comparable results to other techniques such as lasers, dermabrasion and deep chemical peels, but is much less invasive, does not remove the skin surface and has minimal or zero downtime. The concept of skin needling is based on the skins own natural ability to repair itself whenever it encounters physical damage such as cuts, burns etc.  Skin needling allows for the controlled induction of the skins self - repair mechanism by creating micro - injuries which trigger new collagen production, yet does not pose the risk of permanent scarring. WILL IT HURT? There is an amount of associated pain but this can be alleviated WHAT RESULTS WILL I SEE? Straight after treatment there will be some redness and you will have a flushed appearance - similar to mild sunburn, you may also experience skin tightness and mild sensitivity to touch.  This will diminish greatly after a few hours following treatment and within the next 48 hours your skin will be completely healed and looking great! HOW OFTEN IS TREATMENT RECOMMENDED? Every 2-3 months WHERE CAN BE TREATED? Skin Needling is one of the few therapies that is suitable for use on all skin types including ethnic skin and the sensitive skin around the eyes, mouth, hands, neck and decolletage.  Treatment can also be used for enlarged pores, acne and chicken pox scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, lack of skin firmness and elasticity , sun damage, pigmentation, stretch marks and cellulite
