What are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin, tooth coloured coverings also known as porcelain laminates used to cover the front of the tooth. They are placed to improve the appearance of smiles by changing the colour, length or size of teeth. The porcelain used to make the veneers is of a high quality and is generally long lasting.

What is the difference between Porcelain Veneers and Dental Crowns?

Porcelain veneers are only used to cosmetically correct the appearance of smiles. They only cover the front portion of the tooth. Dental crowns cover the entire tooth and are used to cover damaged teeth. Crowns are also placed over surgically inserted dental implants. Crowns are thicker than veneers. The patient’s tooth structure does not need much reduction for the placement of a porcelain veneer. A major portion of the tooth structure has to be reduced before the placement of a crown.

How long do Porcelain Veneers last?

Porcelain veneers last between 10 and 20 years. Patients need to follow the dental maintenance care instructions strictly to ensure that their porcelain veneers don’t wear out or chip. Porcelain veneers are the strongest and costliest type of veneer.

Is it painful getting Porcelain Veneers?

The dentist will administer a local anaesthetic before placing porcelain veneers. This is because the teeth of some patients are more sensitive than others. Since very little tooth structure is reduced for placing veneers, patients will not feel pain after veneers are placed. Some patients may feel a little soreness or sensitivity for a few days after the anaesthesia wears off.

I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly and professional serviceJessica, Ireland, 30 01 19

I highly recommend this place. I hadn't been at a dentist in a very long time and was pleasantly surprised by the friendly and professional service I received at Ballybrack Dental. I was seen by a dentist called Paul who explained everything and put me at ease from the start. There is a lovely atmosphere in the place and all the staff I dealt with were very nice. I also brought my daughter there last week and she was looked after by dentist Donal. As a preschool teacher, I cannot praise both himself and the nurse who looked after her highly enough for the way the dealt with her, she is already looking forward to going back. I strongly recommend this practice if your child needs to see a dentist or even if they don't need to -bring them anyway 😁😁

I could not compliment Deansgrange Dental Clinic enough for their professionalism. Alister was my dentist and to say he is first class, is an understatement, and for Jen, she too was brilliant. They left me without fear of going to a dentist. By the time they were both finished with me, I could only give them 10/10. All the team make you feel so comfortable from start to finish. Alister, Compliments to you and all your happy Team. Thank you all.

The clinic was very goodShane, South Africa, 26 07 17

My son's Wisdom Tooth Extraction appointment at Dr. Tom Hughes and Associates clinic went very well. The price was a little steep but that is to be expected. Other than the price everything went well, my son is recovering nicely. The clinic was very good I would easily recommend it to anyone looking to do any dental procedure.

Always informed exactly what needs to be doneCatherine, Ireland, 12 02 16

Having visited the Fresh Breath Clinic for many years, it's time to pass on the secret of good dental care! Go to Dr. Danielle Colbert and her team. There is always a friendly smile, a relaxed atmosphere and an efficiency that's hard to match. What really sheds all notions of anxiety is how you are always informed exactly what needs to be done, in such a way that you just sit back and relax. Thanks to Danielle my aging teeth and gums have not shown any signs of the expected deterioration. A big 'Thank You' to you all. The Clinic is a Breath of fresh air! Coming in you are met with a smile, the place is bright and there is an immediate air of efficiency while at the same time relaxation. It's easy to find the clinic and parking is free.

Highly recommended.Deirdre, Ireland, 13 05 15

I don't normally do reviews but I found the dentist so good I had to! I attended this dental clinic recently myself and with my kids. I found Olivia really excellent. She put me at ease as I am quite nervous. The premises are state-of-the-art and very new. The waiting room is very pleasant and all the staff members are friendly and efficient. The dentist fixed a tooth that had previous root canal treatment several years ago. I assumed I would lose the tooth and have to go for an expensive implant. But this dentist managed to save it and she did a fantastic job. I had to go back a couple of times and she was accommodating with the appointments to suit my schedule. She also looked after my kids' teeth and they absolutely love her. A great first experience with a dentist. I will definitely go back and can highly recommend this dental practice.
