Along with a shape, size and colour  code to match your other teeth perfectly.2.How should I take care of my crown? Avoid chewing on hard foods or ice. Also avoid teeth grinding. 3.How long does it take to get a crown? Initially, we will remove decay, prepare the tooth to the ideal shape for the crown, and fit it with a temporary crown made of a plastic material. The amount of the tooth removed will be the same as the thickness of the crown. Once the tooth is shaped, the dentist will take an impression (mould) of the prepared tooth, one of the opposite jaw and possibly another to mark the way you bite together. The impressions will then be given to the dental technician, along with an appropriate shade and other information needed for the crown to be made. On your next visit we take off the temporary crown and fit the final crown, cementing it into place so you have a new, beautiful-looking tooth. 4.What is a crown made of? Your teeth are continually bathed in saliva which contains calcium and other substances which help strengthen and protect the teeth. While this is a good thing, it also means that we tend to get a build-up on the teeth over time. Dental hygienic cleaning removes tartar (mineralized plaque) that may develop even with careful brushing and flossing, especially in areas that are difficult to reach in routine tooth brushing. The treatment includes tooth scaling and tooth polishing and debridement if too much tartar has accumulated. This involves the use of various instruments or devices to loosen and remove deposits from the teeth. Does it hurt to have your teeth cleaned? Most people find that cleanings are painless and feeling some tickling vibrations, the cooling mist of water, and the feeling of pressure during “scraping” – do not cause discomfort. Harcourt Health Dental was established in 2004 to cater for the dental needs of the working population in the local area. We offer free check ups to patients qualified through the PRSI scheme, which includes any necessary x-rays, oral cancer screening, and assessment of gum health. The clinic is open for early morning, lunchtime and evening appointments , with emergency appointments available daily. Our treatments include all aspects of general dentistry, including white (composite) fillings in back teeth, root canal fillings, crowns , veneers bridges and implants. Dr Mary Reddy( BDentSc BA) is the principle dentist, having qualified from Trinity College Dublin in 1994, she moved to the UK and worked in general practice in London And Devon. Her career continued in Sydney with a position in corporate dentistry  for 3 years, before moving home to Dublin to set up HarcourtHealth Dental in 2004. We have two hygienists who help with the prevention and treatment of gum disease, and maintenance of oral health.
