What are Veneers?

Veneers are thin shells, also called dental laminates, that are used to cover unsightly teeth and give patients attractive smiles. They are easy to place and can quickly improve the smile of patients with dental cracks and stains, and for patients who have gaps between their teeth.

What is the difference between Veneers and Dental Crowns?

Veneers cover only the front portion of teeth. Crowns cover or replace the entire tooth. Crowns are therefore thicker than veneers. A major portion of the tooth needs to be reduced before placing a crown while only a small portion of the tooth needs to be reduced before placing a veneer. A crown is used for covering damaged teeth and is also placed over a dental implant. A veneer is only used for cosmetic purposes.

What are the best types of Veneers?

The best type of veneer depends on the needs of each individual patient. Some veneers can be easily placed without much tooth preparation. Some veneers are suitable for severely damaged teeth. Some veneers can be easily made in the clinic and patients do not have to wait long for their placement. Some veneers are cheaper than others and are suitable for patients looking for a low cost option.  Your dentist should discuss the options with you so you can make the best choice.

How long before you can eat after getting Veneers?

Dentists recommend that patients eat only soft foods after veneers are placed, and for the first few days, until they get used to them. Veneers are normally bonded firmly to teeth and patients can eat any type of food.

What are Veneers made from?

Veneers are made from ceramic, composite resins or zirconium.

Sorry I didn't get laser hair removal years agoAileen, Ireland, 26 11 15

I am currently undergoing laser hair removal process. The therapists I have been dealing with have been great. The progress is amazing, I'm sorry I didn't get this done years ago! Great value for money, and therapie are extremely professional. I have been dealing with Grainne and Kat while going through the treatment. They are brilliant at explaining the treatment thoroughly, they are also great at calming my nerves! I would definitely recommend that anyone thinking about getting it done should just go and do it!

All the work they did was to a very high standard and I've had no problems sinceNatalie, Ireland, 23 08 16

I hadn't been to the dentist in about 15 years. So i had a lot of cleaning to be done, then removal and replacement of old fillings and build up of front teeth due to grinding. Excellent! They were very professional and i never felt they were doing things just for the sake of it or to get more money. All the work they did was to a very high standard and i've had no problems since. they believe in long term maintenance, so i feel like my teeth are in good hands!! :-)

The procedure was over so quickly I couldn't believe it and I felt absolutely no painÁl, Ireland, 07 11 20

I was very careful when picking which dentist to go to as I had a terrible experience a few years ago with a dentist that left me with a phobia and I avoided the dentist for 3 years. I found a dental house online and the reviews were almost all 5 stars so I made the decision to book an appointment, I'm so so happy I did. From the receptionist to the dentist and the dental nurse (Croatian girl, she was so lovely and very reassuring, she's an asset to the clinic!) I cannot give enough praise, amazing team. I felt listened too and they were very comforting and reassuring especially as I was extremely anxious. I had a clean and polish and came back to get a filling 2 weeks later. The dentist was so kind and reassured me that I would have the strongest anaesthetic and wouldn't feel a thing and to bring my headphones in. The procedure was over so quickly I couldn't believe it and I felt absolutely no pain except the initial pinch from the needle, she is amazing at what she does. Officially cured my phobia and I'm actually looking forward to coming back to check up and keep my teeth and gums healthy. Recommended to all my friends and family and 100% to anyone reading, they are amazing and you are in great hands. Thank you to the team for finally helping me overcome my dental anxiety and for the 5star work. Very grateful.

Every step of my visit was handled with great care, attention and I felt comfortable throughoutMichael, Ireland, 25 04 18

Examination of a troubling upper molar filled more than 10 years ago. Further full examination and X-rays of teeth along with full and future treatment plan. Pleasantly surprised from my visit to Docklands Dental. I am a very nervous patient in general (don’t like needles or whirring drills!) and Dr. Barry managed to put me almost immediately at ease. There was no conveyor belt feeling as I have experienced at other practices. They took their time; Every step of my visit was handled with great care, attention and I felt very comfortable throughout the examination process. This was then followed through with a comprehensive chat around the health of my teeth in general and a long-term treatment plan. Highly recommend and thanks again. Top Professionals!

I will recommend this clinic to everybody.Darko, Dublin 8, 02 01 15

I had a strong pain due to infection in my tooth, number six, bottom left. When I called the clinic, they were very kind and told me to come for an appointment immediately. They charged me only 50 + antibiotic prescription 10. I have been told that I will be charged 390 on my next appointment due to root canal. Staff and Dr. Niall MacDonagh were very friendly, and they saved me pain on January 2nd, 2015. I will recommend this clinic to everybody. Thanks, Darko.

Helped me greatlyJohn, Ireland, 20 11 15

I have had a few things done with Niall, Filling, root canal and tooth reconstruction. Each time they went very well. I am nervous of the drill but think that is something I will never get over, but Niall has helped me greatly. I would have no hesitation in telling anyone to go to him. The Clinic is all that you would expect...clean and the staff are very pleasant...I couldn't have anything bad to say about him or the people who works with him. I am going to go back again so I think that says it all
