Dental bridges, also called tooth bridges, are placed when patients have one or more teeth missing or have gaps between their teeth. It usually takes two visits to get dental bridges fitted and the procedure takes about two hours.

What different types of dental bridges are there?

Traditional dental bridges consist of two crowns placed on healthy teeth on either side of the missing teeth, or gap, and the bridge then covers the gap supported by the two crowns. Maryland bridges are bonded to the backs of teeth on either side of the bridge and are not connected to crowns. Implant retained bridges are bridges that are placed over implants fixed in the gums. Maryland bonded bridge: Metal framework and or resin bonded Your dentist will suggest the best type of bridge to opt for depending on your individual care and aesthetic requirement. Bridges are made in a lab by a specialist technician and are custom made purely for you. What to expect when you visit White Smile Dental: Once you have made your appointment you will be sent a reminder text the day before with your appointment details and our address. Upon arrival you will be asked to fill out a new patient form with your medical history and take a seat in our comfortable waiting area. When called for your appointment, our dentist will greet you and explore all options for your bridge. We will discuss your requirements and together a treatment plan will be outlined with time frames and costs involved. Your bridge will take two visits (sometimes more) to complete. During your first visit impressions will be taken. They will be sent to the laboratory where your bridge will be made. You will be given a temporary crown/s to wear if needs be.
