What is a Dental Crown?

A dental crown is a tooth shaped covering used as a cap over damaged teeth. The purpose of placing a crown is to improve the appearance and strength of the damaged tooth. Crowns are also placed over surgically inserted dental implants.

What are the different types of Dental Crowns?

The types of dental crowns include ceramic crowns, zirconia crowns, porcelain covered corrosion resistant metal crowns or porcelain fused to metal crowns, corrosion resistant metal crowns and gold crowns.

What is the best type of crown?

The best type of crown depends on the need of each individual patient and the position of the tooth. For instance, some people would find a gold crown placed on a front tooth unsightly. Ceramic, tooth coloured crowns placed on the front teeth maintain the natural appearence of the smile.

How long will a Dental Crown last?

Crowns are expected to last for about 5 years. Some crowns could last for up to 30 years. The life of a crown depends on the dental hygiene practiced by the patient and general wear and tear caused by biting, chewing or grinding. Crowns may crack if the patient has an accident.

Is it painful to get a Dental Crown?

Dentists inject local anaesthetic to numb the tooth and gum before placing the crown. The patient will not feel any pain while the crown is being placed. After the anaesthetic wears off the patient may feel mild pain or sensitivity for a few hours.

Everything appears to be very clean and well organizedDav-Man, Cambodia, 26 10 19

Based on the excellent reviews I decided to try Pagna Clinic for a repair of my damaged crown and post. The clinic itself isn’t very large really. Everything appears to be very clean and well organized. What space and equipment might lack compared with a large modern flashy dental clinic it more than makes up for in high quality and standards in my opinion. I was expecting to need a replacement for both crown and post however after examining me Dr Pagna said that would not be necessary. He could use my existing hardware with some added cleaning first. That saved me plenty of time which has a new crown fitted would have taken. It also was of course very much cheaper to utilize what I had already instead of replacing it with new. For sure some other clinics I’ve been to over the years here in PP would have sold me the new replacement pieces just because they could. Once my crown and post were replaced and checked Dr. P told me the last time it had been fixed the crown was not seated properly. He paid extra attention to details when it came to giving me a repair which was not only done correctly but which I was going to be happy with. We spent a little extra time doing so but in the end, it was well worth it for the end result. Lastly the staff there were all pleasant and helpful. I had to take my infant daughter along with me during the appointment. Dr Pagna’s wife and the staff took care of watching my daughter while I was getting the dental work done. That was a huge help for me because I didn’t have anyone to babysit at the time. Thanks so much for your excellent support and quality work. I definitely will recommend Pagna Dental Clinic to anyone I know!

She was very understanding and took me through the procedure patientlyChris, Cambodia, 29 06 18

I had a gold crown repaired and my teeth cleaned. Both treatments were perfect, the dentist is so kind and understanding - cos I am scared of dental work - it freaks me out! But she was very understanding and took me through the procedure patiently. I will use them again for sure. Very happy! The place is clean, cool, modern equipment and even wi-fi in the waiting area. The prices are very good too.
