What are Dental Bridges?

Dental bridges, also called tooth bridges, are placed when patients have one or more teeth missing or have gaps between their teeth. It usually takes two visits to get dental bridges fitted and the procedure takes about two hours.

What different types of dental bridges are there?

Traditional dental bridges consist of two crowns placed on healthy teeth on either side of the missing teeth, or gap, and the bridge then covers the gap supported by the two crowns. Cantilever bridges are placed when there are healthy teeth only on one side of the bridge. Maryland bridges are bonded to the backs of teeth on either side of the bridge and are not connected to crowns. Implant retained bridges are bridges that are placed over implants fixed in the gums. These bridges are placed when several implants are surgically inserted.

Is fitting dental bridges painful?

The dentist will numb the area where the dental bridge is to be placed before performing the procedure. Patients will not feel any pain during the procedure.

When can I travel by air after fitting dental bridges?

Patients should be able to fly two days after fitting their dental bridge. If they feel any pain or sensitivity after the procedure, they should consult their dentist for medications or postpone their journey till the pain or sensitivity has abated.

How long does recovery after fitting dental bridges take?

If patients feel pain or sensitivity after a dental bridge is fitted, they should recover within a week.

How do I care for my teeth after fitting dental bridges?

Patients should follow a normal dental hygiene routine. Patients should brush and floss their teeth and maintain proper hygiene. Patients should avoid eating or drinking anything that is too hot, cold or too hard, for at least a week after the procedure.

What are the alternatives to fitting dental bridges?

Some alternatives to dental bridges are partial dentures or removable dentures.

A resin retained bridge is a dental  replacing a missing  that relies for its retention on a composite resin cement. A Resin-bonded bridge consists of a cast metal framework that is cemented with resin composite to an abutment(s) which has preparation(s) confined either entirely or almost entirely to enamel. The resin retained bridge is a good treatment option for many missing teeth as it is relatively cheap when compared to alternatives such as , requires little or no damage to the surrounding teeth during preparation for placement, and it is well tolerated by patients. Typical success rates are quoted as being as high as 80% after 15 years in the anterior . Far lower success rates are seen in the posterior .Thus case selection is important. I was happy with the price I paid for the level of quality receivedMagdelena, Belgium, 17 03 18

I visited three other dentists in Brussels and Necar Dental is by far the best. They were the most professional and had the friendliest staff, so I had my Invisalign done here. I also went for a root canal before the braces were fitted. Their prices are reasonable and the quote for the braces was calculated on an individual basis. The rates were more or less the same as everywhere else, but I was happy with the price I paid for the level of quality received. The staff at this clinic are probably the most friendly people I’ve ever experienced in the dental industry. They’re all super nice and you feel welcome from the first day. I was confident they’d take care of me and see to all my dental needs. I’m in my fifth week of treatment for Invisalign Braces now, and I’m still going for follow-ups. The orthodontist is so amazing that I’ve already referred three of my best friends to her! I was not happy with the other dentists I’d consulted in Brussels, but this one gets a 5/5 for sure.

The staff’s professionalism really impressed me, and they were able to help me quite quicklyNick, South Africa, 11 01 18

I chose iDent Clinic because they’re relatively close to me. It was a special treatment I had done, so I ended up paying more than I expected. I also didn’t know what other dental clinics were charging, so the cost came as a big surprise to me. The treatment was good, but it’s difficult to say if it was worth what I paid. The staff’s professionalism really impressed me, and they were able to help me quite quickly. There was no real waiting time and the service was fantastic. Overall, I was treated really well.

The cost of doing this was very reasonable and I was fully satisfactoryMohamed, Belgium, 08 04 19

I had a root canal done in my home country for 2 teeth and a bridge was attached. In Brussels, it came off and the doctor found there is decay in one of the root canals. He treated it very well and replaced it with the same ceramic cap I had before. The cost of doing this was very reasonable and I was fully satisfactory.

I had one follow-up appointment a few weeks after the surgery and the healing process was on trackAnonymous, Brussels, 11 01 18

I had an appointment for an extraction at Dental Laser Care. A friend recommended this clinic to me and I was very happy with the entire experience. My procedure was gum-related. I had one follow-up appointment a few weeks after the surgery and the healing process was on track. I’m really satisfied.
