What is Fat Transfer?

Fat transfer is a surgical procedure that transplants fat taken from the patient’s body to areas of the face and body in order to restore the volume lost because of the process of aging. The procedure is also called fat grafting or fat injection. Typically fat is transferred to the breasts, the buttocks, hands and facial features including the lips, chin and cheeks. Fat transfers are also performed to treat acne scarring.

How is Fat Transfer done?

Fat is removed from one area of the body by the surgeon using liposuction. The fat is purified and turned into liquid form. It is then injected into another part of the body to give more volume. The time taken for the procedure depends on the part of the body from which the fat is harvested, the processing of the fat and the part of the body or face where the fat is transferred to. A fat transfer procedure to the buttocks, for example, may take five to eight hours.

Is Fat Transfer painful?

Fat transfer procedures are performed under general anaesthesia, local anaesthesia or intravenous sedation, depending on the needs of each individual patient. Patients will not feel pain during the procedure.

How long does it take to recover from Fat Transfer?

Recovery from fat transfer depends on the part of the body to which fat is transferred. The recovery time for patients choosing a fat transfer procedure to their buttocks may be about four to six weeks.

When can I travel by air after Fat Transfer?

Patients can travel by air 10 days after their fat transfer procedure.

What post-operative care should I take after Fat Transfer?

Patients should rest for a few days after a fat transfer procedure. They should take all prescribed medications correctly and avoid smoking or drinking alcohol. Patients should avoid strenuous activities and lifting heavy objects for at least a month after the procedure. They should, however start walking as soon as possible to decrease swelling. They should also wear the prescribed compression garments correctly.

At the age of 60, I feel much better about myselfAngel, Rustenburg, 11 03 20

In Nov 2019 Dr Gordon Cohen did a fat transplant to my face with a Permanent Thread as well. I am more than amazed and extremely happy. At the age of 60, I feel much better about myself. Dr Cohen is straight to the bone which I appreciate so much. Although a had a very low body fat, he still did an amazing job. Dr Cohen seems to excel in everything he does at the clinic. I had a facial called skin-tight today, and although it's a 2-hour drive for me, I will do all my treatments and maintenance at Face and Body. Thank you, Dr for changing my life for the better.

Facial Fat Transfer R22000 - R70000
Fat grafting is the procedure to remove excess fat cells from one part of the body to another part of the body. Many people correct sunken eyes with fat grafting because it returns a more youthful look to eyes. This procedure is not a Brazillian Butt Lift and can only be done on facial areas. Fat Transfer is a minimally invasive procedure that is performed under local anaesthetic as opposed to general anestheticIt is a walk-in walk-out procedure, so no hospital stay is involvedResults are more natural-lookingConsiderably less pain and no scarringNo lengthy time off work or away from daily activitiesAs we age, one of the things that we may notice is the loss of volume in the face, as well as hands, and other areas. Loss of volume is often accompanied by loss of skin elasticity which can further concerns patients. The progressive effects of time on your skin, as well as changes in soft tissue, and other deeper structural components of the face and body bring about appearance changes that include changes in skin texture, loss of plumpness and volume especially in the face, and hands as well as in the female breast. The affected areas appear more angular or bony, adding to the perception of ageing. Gravity, bone thinning, decreased tissue elasticity and subcutaneous fat loss all exacerbate this. In respect of the face, for many who wanted to rejuvenate a more youthful appearance, a face lift was usually considered the go-to option, but that comes with high costs and lengthy recovery time, as well as pain and inconvenience to life in general. Recent years have seen a significant increase in the number of non-surgical procedures performed for facial rejuvenation. Men and women seeking alternatives to surgical procedures include those who require restoration of lost facial volume, those who wish to enhance normal facial features, and those who want to correct facial asymmetry.
Liposuction R24950 - R100000
Liposuction is ideal for patients who want to eliminate areas of fat deposits that are resistant to exercise and diet. These fat deposits give rise to unwanted body shape and are often described by patients as “stubborn fat”. The body areas that are most commonly a concern for patients and result in their seeking out treatment options are the inner thighs and inner knees, saddlebags, the abdomen, love handles and lower back fat, upper arms, buttocks, and double chins. In men, Liposuction has been found effective in treating unwanted fat deposits in the male chest area. * The costs of the treatment is determined by the areas you want to have treated. The first area costs R24,950 and there is an additional charge of R5,500.00for each subsequent area. Please feel free to read additional information on our website. You can also view the chart below for the areas that can potentially be treated. Should you wish to further your inquiry we would need to set up an office consultation in order to assess your requirements and determine the cost for the procedure.  Consultation costs R750
Brow Lift R990 - R15000
Are you frustrated with sagging skin in your forehead region? Then the forehead lift and eyebrow lift, also called "the brow lift," may be just what you're seeking. This popular procedure is used to help reverse the aging process (think deep wrinkles and creases across your forehead caused by years of facial expressions and environmental effects). But don't be fooled. Younger people are also candidates if they have inherited traits, such as lowbrow or other problems. Consultation R500

The removal treatment worked and the scar is completely gone nowAnonymous, Zambia, 23 02 18

While I was looking around online, I saw some good reviews for this clinic and decided to have my scar removed here. The removal treatment worked and the scar is completely gone now. What I really appreciated about The Aesthetics HQ, was their transparency. The clinic quoted me the full cost that included everything. There are some other places that have hidden additional costs. I really liked their services.

Liposuction
The technique involves injection of fluid, including local anaesthetic, into the area to be refined prior to the actual procedure, the so-called tumescent technique. This is an outstanding procedure with low morbidity and predictable results if patient selection criteria are strict and technique is sound. Surface bruising will usually resolve in 10 to 14 days. Pleasing improvement is noticeable within 7 to 14 days. The final result will usually be evident after 8 to 10 weeks. Careful evaluation of the skin tone is required. The patient's age and the amount of fat to be removed from a particular area can and will influence the "tone" of the skin after the procedure and this is discussed prior to the procedure.
