The diode laser treatment is an effective method for removal of unwanted hair. Diode laser hair reduction is a painless procedure that can cover large areas of the skin and has faster treatment rate.
HOW IT WORKS
The Diode laser system includes the SLP1000, F1 diode, Light Sheer, Apex 800 etc. These systems deliver long laser wavelengths that allow the light to penetrate deeper into the hair follicles. At this wavelength, the damage to melanin pigment and other appendages is avoided. The Diode laser therapy is a safe procedure that can be used on 1, 2 and 3 skin types. The recovery after therapy with Diode laser is much faster and large portions of the skin can be treated with ease.
SPECIFICATIONS FOR DIODE LASER
Since there are several varieties of Diode laser available, an idea of the minimum requirements is essential. The wavelength that gives best results lies between 800-810 nm with a spot size of 9mm. the fluence of the Diode laser should be between10-40. The laser must be administered at a repetition rate of 1Hz and a pulse width of 5-30ms.
One session is not sufficient to produce long lasting results. Generally 6-8 treatment sessions are recommended. These sessions must be spaced out at intervals of 8-12 weeks, in order to treat all the hair growth which would occur at different rates in different areas of the body.
SAFETY OF THE PROCEDURE
The Diode laser for hair reduction is safe and a painless way to get rid of unwanted hair. The side effects are extremely rare. Occasionally there may be some alteration of the natural skin pigmentation, either a decrease, called hypopigmentation or an increase, called hyperpigmentation, following the diode laser therapy. These are usually transient and disappear rapidly. When done by qualified and expert professionals, these side effects are minimal.
EFFECTIVENESS OF THERAPY
Using the Diode Laser treatment is a safe and effective method of unwanted hair reduction. This is a fast way of permanent hair removal. After the recommended number of sessions, usually a minimum of 4 sessions, there is an almost 80% permanent removal of the unwanted hair.
LONG TERM EFFECTS
Diode laser therapy utilizes non-ionizing radiation for unwanted hair reduction. This does not cause any breakdown of the skin cell DNA. The only long term effects after Diode Laser treatment could be related to the skin discolouration that may occur locally after the laser therapy. The pain, swelling and redness that may follow a session of Diode laser are all temporary and tend to settle down within a few days. Occasionally there may be blistering of the skin which may be extremely painful. This also tends to decrease and disappear after a few days.
