Endovenous laser photocoagulation (EVLP) is a procedure, where laser energy is delivered into the internal wall of a varicose vein, resulting in its permanent closure throughout the treated length.Local tumescence anaesthetizes the treated area, minimizing discomfort during procedure. The laser light energy is absorbed by water and changed into heat - temperature inside the vessel grows up to 60 -70 ° C (140- 158 F) - which causes the coagulation of blood and the destruction of the vessel wall.
