Our programme starts with your gastric sleeve procedure being carried out  in our state of the art, fully CHKS, NTPF and ISO accredited, private hospital in Dublin by our expert bariatric surgeon. Following the procedure, you will have lifetime after-care with our weight loss team, including unlimited appointments and 24/7 emergency phone support. Typically, we would expect our patients to lose approximately 6-7 stone (38-44kg) within the first year. However, this will vary from patient to patient depending on how strictly they stick to the given guidelines. Many of our patients have lost as much as 11 stone (69kg) within the first year. We also understand that most of our patients prefer to have all the available information before making a decision. For this reason, we offer all of our gastric sleeve patients free consultations. During this consultation we can discuss the procedure, the after-care programme and the patient requirements in far greater detail whilst also ensuring that the patient is an appropriate candidate for the procedure. Following your gastric band procedure you are enrolled onto our comprehensive after-care program. You will receive full nutritional guides which covers all aspects of the foods you need to be eating whilst being worded in a way that is very easy to understand. You will also receive full exercise guidelines which will be incorporated into your program after you have lost some weight and once it is safer for you to engage in physical activity. You will have unlimited appointments with our weight loss team, providing motivation and ensuring that we can be depended upon by you. You will also have all adjustments/fills of your gastric band included on your after-care program. As standard, you will also receive 24/7 emergency phone support and full surgical cover for the entire duration of your program. Typically, we would expect a weight loss of at least 5-6 stone within the first year of our program, however, we have many patients who have lost as much as 10 stone within this time.

The gastric sleeve is the latest weight loss procedure that shows promising results. By restricting food absorbtion and reducing hunger the gastric sleeve might be your best option. Advantages of gastric sleeve include lower cost, less dumping, fewer complications and does not require adjustments after the initial surgery. How does the Gastric Sleeve work? The vertical sleeve gastrectomy is a restrictive form of weight loss surgery in which approximately 85% of the stomach is removed leaving a cylindrical or sleeve shaped stomach with a capacity ranging from about 60 to 150 cc, depending upon the surgeon performing the procedure.

In this procedure, a hollowband made of special material is placed around the stomach near its upper end,creating a small pouch and a narrow passage into the larger remainder of thestomach. The band is then inflated with a salt solution. It can be tightened orloosened over time to change the size of the passage by increasing ordecreasing the amount of salt solution. The entire procedure is donelaparoscopically, where a laparoscope is inserted through the abdominal wallthrough small surgical incisions.
