I found her very reassuring and genuinely interested in meDeborah, UK, 27 07 18

Having 'crashed' into the menopause like a mad person, I'd tried changing my diet, herbal remedies, exercising more but nothing stopped the horrendous hot flashes every hour, day and night. After 3 months of no proper sleep, I was desperate and thought I'd give acupuncture a try. Sceptical at first, I was really impressed with the time Judy took to discuss all my 'symptoms' and we decided to start with the night flashes as I was so sleep deprived. It was amazing! After my very first session, I didn't feel any different but the hot flashes seemed less severe and I slept for 5 hours which was heaven. I've since had two more and I hardly notice the flashes and have been sleeping for 8 hours solid every night. I feel more like my old self again. I can't thank Judy enough and I would definitely recommend her to anyone suffering from the menopause but doesn't want HRT. Worth every penny! I searched online for an acupuncturist near me and found Judy. She looked about my age and so I thought she would understand how dreadful the menopause can be for some people. She was very understanding, gave me plenty of time to talk and discussed the treatment. I found her very reassuring and genuinely interested in me. Her practice is very well presented and is quiet and peaceful and only a few minutes away. A very rewarding experience. Highly recommended.

I have since been back 4 times for more Acupuncture Treatment and my pain is nearly goneDavid, UK, 01 09 16

I have been seeing Elma for about 5 weeks with a seriously painful back problem after driving for 35 years. I cannot believe the difference it made after my first visit; I have a phobia of needles but was put at ease by Elma. I have since been back 4 times and my lower back pain has diminished after each visit. The Courtyard Clinic is in Crowborough where I live. It is in the town centre and was recommended to Elma for her clinics. It has a very nice atmosphere and the receptionist is very friendly and puts you at ease when you get there.

My trust was not misplaced, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her treatment to anyone in needMrs., UK, 26 03 19

Following a fall down some stairs, pains caused by damaged internal soft tissue were affecting my lower back, hip and all down one leg. Because I was walking with great difficulty using a metal frame, Ping kindly came to my house. I have always been nervous about needles but was made to feel completely at ease, finding the whole experience to be a surprisingly pleasant one. Not only was I given acupuncture, but the Infra lamp felt wonderful and I had Moxibustion, Cupping and a Tui Na massage which felt marvellous. I look upon my treatment as a real turning point in my recovery. Afterwards, I could walk unaided, and the following day was able to dispense with the walking frame. I would never have thought of this treatment if I hadn't been attending Ping's Qi Gong classes and had complete faith in her personally. My trust was not misplaced, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her treatment to anyone in need.

Treatment is suitable for most patients except: Patients who are unwilling or afraid Bleeding disorders, anticoagulants, and antiplatelet drugs Immunocompromised patients Skin infections at site of needling Skin disorders such as psoriasis or eczema Metal allergy Valvular heart disease (for indwelling needles) Patients who are going to drive or operate machinery What are the differences between traditional and modern acupuncture? The differences are mainly at the level of theory - ideas about what is going on when one inserts an acupuncture needle into a patient. There, are, however, also some practical differences. Modern acupuncturists do not use traditional diagnostic methods such as the pulse or the appearance of the tongue. Many, though not all, modern acupuncturists leave the needles in place for quite a short time: often about two minutes or even less. Many, though not all, modern acupuncturists use only a few needles - perhaps four and sometimes only one! Surprising though this may seem, experience shows that doing acupuncture this way is quite as effective as using a lot of needles and leaving them in for longer and is less likely to have unwanted effects. Which is better, modern or traditional? It is not possible to give an objective answer to this question because there is little good research evidence that bears on it. Probably both versions of acupuncture are roughly similar in effectiveness but modern acupuncture is generally quicker and easier to perform. There are also some techniques in the modern version that are not used in traditional acupuncture and which are particularly effective in certain circumstances, e.g. for the treatment of joint pain (arthritis). How does it work? We cannot yet explain this, however current theories include pain modulation and endorphin release.

Somatic Tao - Acupuncture Clinic in the UK

Somatic Tao

40, Coleridge Street, Hove, BN3 5AD
Do you suffer: signs of stress; find it difficult to cope with certain situations; or  find your physical symptoms seem to be worse in certain circumstances?       Then read on! Based in Brighton & Hove, Somatic Tao was created in 2004 by Penny Boyland, to provide a deeper, more effective way to resolve all manner of symptoms resulting from stress and distress. Somatic Tao truly believes that your body is the voice of all aspects of you: physical; psychological; emotional; and spiritual. An imbalance in any of these aspects is likely to develop physical symptoms as a prompt to make you seek remedial action. Conventional Western medicine, being based in pathology, can prove very effective against imbalances at the physical level, but can struggle to achieve good results relating to other aspects of yourself. E.g. A client with lower back pain despite no lifting or strenuous physical exertion. Using the integrated approach of Somatic Experiencing® and Chinese 5 Element Acupuncture, it became obvious that the back pain was due to the emotional load the client was ‘carrying’!  Using a combined holistic approach: the Somatic Experiencing® helped the client to: appreciate self-protection in emotionally demanding situations;improved their body’s ability to tolerate such interactions; andthe acupuncture promoted energetic flow and balance. They now rarely suffer lower back pain, but when they do, they are mu
